The mission of the Focus for Health Foundation (FFH) is to promote advocacy, education, and research to combat the rise of chronic illness around the world.  We support efforts that increase public awareness of the connection between hazardous environmental exposures and the immune system, and address how social determinants of health and inequality within populations create vulnerability to disease.

Horse of the Month
Woody

Woody is a 22-year old appendix quarter horse owned by Essex Equestrian Center.  Woody is our director Carey's favorite EEC horse!  Carey rode him for many years and knew his quiet and friendly temperament would be a good fit for our therapeutic riding school groups.

In his younger days, Woody participated in  jumper horse shows, and now he teaches all kinds of lessons to children and adults!  We love Woody for his sweet nature and willingness to please!

Staff Member of the Month
Lynda MannBos

Lynda is a physical therapist at Rocking Horse Rehab, who also works at the 1st Cerebral Palsy Center of New Jersey in Belleville.  Lynda has accompanied her students to Rocking Horse Rehab for weekly therapy field trips for many years.  This inspired Lynda to take the American Hippotherapy Association's treatment therapy principles course last year.

Lynda trained under our executive director Sheri Marino as well as other staff therapists to gain hands-on experience.  She is currently treating at Rocking Horse Rehab in addition to assisting her students when they come on Friday's for their treatment sessions.  We are thrilled to have Lynda as part of our Rocking Horse Rehab team!

We are hiring!

Rocking Horse Rehab is expanding!  We are currently searching for speech, occupational, and physical therapists to join our team.

Grant Money Available!

RHR is a recipient of a generous grant from the Italian Welfare League, an organization which assists children of Italian descent who are ill or have suffered an emotional trauma. Since 2001, they have raised and distributed over $1,500,000 to hundreds of children and organizations which provide services to children.  Their grant helps us to provide services for children of Italian descent who otherwise would not be able to afford our services.

Their recipients have many different diagnoses, such as brain injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome.  For more information on how to receive a grant for our services, please email us at:  [email protected]
