Lent is a time to take time to let the power
of our faith story take hold of us,
a time to let the events get up
and walk around in us,
a time to intensify our living unto Christ,
a time to hover over the thoughts of our hearts,
a time to place our feet in the streets of
Jerusalem or to walk along the sea and
listen to his Word,
a time to touch his robe
and feel the healing surge through us,
a time to ponder and a time to wonder....
Lent is a time to allow
a fresh new taste of God!
Perhaps we're afraid to have time to think,
for thoughts come unbidden.
Perhaps we're afraid to face our future
knowing our past.
Give us courage, O God,
to hear your Word
and to read our living into it.
Give us the trust to know we're forgiven
and give us the faith
to take up our lives and walk.

Is God's Will So Mysterious?
United Presbyterian Women will have their meeting on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00 am in Fellowship Hall. A discussion of Chapter 3 entitled, "Is God's Will So Mysterious?" of the new book Discovering God's Will For Your Life by Sheila Walsh will take place during this meeting. There will also be a Birthday offering to support the mission of Presbyterian Women. All women of the church are cordially invited to join! After the meeting, that is done at noon, those women who would like to go for lunch are invited to go to a local restaurant.

-TASK AND ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
In the past six months, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen has seen a 15% rise in the number of meals they have served. With proposed cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, aka "food stamps"), TASK anticipates even greater need in the near future. Our contributions, combined with those of others in the community, enable TASK to continue their mission to feed the hungry in our midst. Please give generously!
Palm Sunday, March 25 is our denomination's annual One Great Hour of Sharing Offering to support our three mission programs: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and the Self-Development of People. This is a special offering taken once a year. If you would like to contribute, please mark your check OGHS and/or place it in on of the One Great Hour of Sharing Envelopes found in the pews.

Youth Group Pasta Dinner March 10, 5-7 pm

$7 for Adults; $5 Children
The Youth Group Annual Pasta Dinner will be held in Fellowship Hall at UPC on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 from 5-7 pm. Tickets for Adults are $7.00 and for Children $5.00. All proceeds from the Pasta Dinner will support UPC's Youth Program. Please see Megan Gadsby, UPC Youth Leader or inquire/see Mike Mraz in the church office for tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door on March 10.

y of grief and hope.

EASTER CANTATA ON PALM SUNDAY, MARCH 25
|
The choir is working hard on an Easter cantata by Robert Lau entitled, "The Cross." It is an artful and sensitive creation commemorating Christ's last week on earth from his triumphal Jerusalem entry and last meal with his disciples, to his agony on the cross and glorious resurrection. The familiar scriptural narration and simply designed hymn settings are woven into a seamless choral cantata, adding heightened meaning and understanding to Jesus' final journey. There is a chair for any and all who love to make music! Dress Rehearsal will be Saturday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Performance will be Sunday, March 25th during the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service. THERE WILL BE NO E3 SERVICE ON MARCH 25! Please come to learn, listen, and enjoy!

Commemorate the Last Supper
We will celebrate the Lord's Supper by intinction as we gather to remember the last time Jesus ate with his disciples before his crucifixion. The name "Maundy" is derived from the Latin word, "mandatum," which means "commandment." On the first Holy Thursday, Jesus said to his disciples, "A new commandment I give to you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another" (John 13:34). Join your fellow Christians in a community of Christ's love as we journey together toward the cross.

UPC to Host Hamilton Ecumenical Good Friday Service
|
We Will Gather Friday, March 30, at Noon
The Hamilton Ecumenical Service will take place in the United Presbyterian Church Sanctuary beginning at noon on Friday, March 30, 2018. Members of the clergy from the Hamilton area will participate in the hour long service. Come to remember and thank God for Jesus' gift of his life on the cross, an atoning sacrifice for sin and a demonstration of the depth of God's love for us.
