National Signing Day
CTE Students commit to Pima College

Like the ceremonies to welcome new college athletes; a stage was built, a crowd gathered, and cameras captured dozens of JTED students from programs such as Automotive, Aviation, Culinary Arts, and Construction Technologies as they signed letters of intent to attend Pima Community College and pursue technical careers.

This year more than 2,400 students participated in the National CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day, sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers.

In his opening remarks, Pima Community College Chancellor Lee Lambert pointed out that 68 percent of jobs will require post-secondary education, yet only 21 percent will require a four-year college degree. Daryl Koeppel, from the Jim Click Automotive Team, hit that point home when he announced his organization would likely hire every automotive student signing that day.
Cassidy Camp 3 for 3
Tanque Verde senior excels at JTED

Tanque Verde High School Senior Cassidy Camp is driven to follow her mom and dad's footsteps and become a General Contractor.

Thanks to three of her JTED programs, she'll be able to reach her dream within four years of finishing high school.

Cassidy is enrolled in Precision Manufacturing at Tanque Verde High School, and she travels across town after her school day ends to the JTED @ Star Storm Center to take Construction Technologies and Heavy Equipment Operations four days a week. Her HEO program also requires her to log in two Saturdays each month.

Her instructors, John Puiia, Richard Lewis, and Tim Wood all agree Cassidy is a model student and will succeed at whatever she puts her mind to. As for mom and dad, they couldn't be more proud.
