The game was outstanding with both team battling. It brought many roars of cheering from the stands. In the end Sanborn fell a little short, however they had a great season and as they left the court you could hear the chant of the crowd "We love you Sanborn".
Senior Spotlight : Gabrielle Studley
An Article by Business Technology Teacher Jeff Adams
Gabrielle Studley (also known as Gabby) loves to draw and doodle in her spare time.  A Day would not go by that Gabby would miss the opportunity to grab a white board maker and draw her characters all over the board during her spare time especially in the woodshop office and in Mr. Adams' room.  Gabby is always smiling and willing to help anyone who asked.  Mrs. Farrar describes Gabby as a " very creative, artistic, studios and one of the kindest souls I have ever met".
I personally found Gabby to be an intelligent, creative, hardworking and kind person that was fun to have in my classroom, who also had the same taste in oldies music as me.  Woodworking teacher Mr. Kelly wrote that Gabby is " an intelligent, thoughtful, empathetic young lady who loves Elvis, Dr. Who and Knight Rider.  She loves the show Dr. Who so much that she made a model of the TARDIS (if you don't know what the acronym means, you will need to watch Dr. who) in woodshop class in her sophomore year".  English Teacher Mr. Cass wrote "Gabbie is amazing -- she is one of the best creative writers I've ever had, she loves immersing herself in fictional worlds, though she's timid/lacks confidence at time she makes great use of feedback, and she's always respectful and gives you her best".
Drawing is her passion and her dream is to have a career in animation or illustration.  She would like to take her talent to the college level at the University of New Hampshire, Keene, Plymouth, New Hampshire Art Institute or Rivier University.  In order to increase her knowledge of the arts Gabby during her senior year she is enrolled in an Art Education Internship at Ellis school working with the art teacher to further her knowledge of art.  I am looking forward to seeing Gabby's art work in a video game, movie, in some form of marketing or even in a museum.
Senior Spotlight : Ryan Boutin
An Article by English Teacher Katie Graham

Have you ever had one of those "you had to have been there!" moments? As I begin writing about Ryan Boutin, I think of all of these amazing anecdotes that took place in my 4th Period Junior English class last year... but you just had to be there! Somehow I ended up with a bouquet of broccoli sitting on my desk, all because of the good-natured character that Ryan brought to my classroom.

One thing about Ryan that really impresses me is his dedication to the American Heart Association. It isn't often that you hear of someone taking it upon themselves to give back to their community, but he feels a real connection to this organization and does what he can to help out. When he isn't cooking for AHA events, he is probably playing basketball (or signing up for Wellness FLT).

I have so much more to say, but you had to have been there. I wish you the best of luck, Ryan, as you embark on this next phase of life. I know that your positive attitude, quick wit, and dedication to your passions will open many doors for you.
SRHS Named a Candidate for  a Major NH Award
A Message From Principal Brian M. Stack

The New Hampshire Excellence in Education organization has recently named Sanborn Regional High School as a candidate for the Secondary School Representative of Excellence Award. The Excellence Award is given annually to one New Hampshire elementary, middle, and high school that exemplify the five School Excellence Competencies which are spelled out in greater detail on this rubric and listed below:

CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION: The curriculum and instructional practices are presented in a rigorous, relevant and engaging learning environment.

COMMUNITY AND CULTURE: The school organizes community members, ensuring they all have a role in building the school's climate and culture.

VISION: The school's vision, mission and goals are clearly articulated, well communicated and guide practice.

INFORMED: The school has an effective system for utilizing data and information that supports personalization.

EMPOWERED: There is a culture of empowerment among students, staff, teachers, administration, and community members.

Earlier this year, the staff at Sanborn submitted an extensive application which described how each of these competencies were met and/or exceeded at Sanborn. The school was then asked to give a 45 minute presentation to the selection committee. Principal Brian M. Stack traveled to Laconia with teachers Kerrie Alley, Mark Giuliucci, Brian Gray, Ashley Harbel, Dianne McCarthy, Donna Moseley, and Heather Wheeler and students Caroline Fuller and Elizabeth McLellan to deliver that presentation on February 13, 2018. The highlight of the presentation was this three minute video , written and produced by Sanborn students to describe what Sanborn means to them. The video will be used in the future as part of an informational packet to new students as well as in-coming ninth grade students to help them learn, from students, what Sanborn is all about.
As a candidate for the Secondary School Representative of Excellence Award, the school will now host the award selection committee for a four-hour visit during the school day on March 16, 2018. During this time, the committee will observe classrooms and meet with a variety of school community stakeholders regarding Sanborn's application.
The award winner will be announced by the EDies committee later this spring. T he winning school at each level will receive state-wide recognition as the EDies School of Excellence at the June 9 EDies Award dinner in Manchester, $2,000, a school banner, and a beautifully engraved school bell signifying excellence in education. McDonald's is proud to partner with the EDies to award each elementary, K-8, middle and secondary School of Excellence $2,000.
Previous winners for this award were Winnacunnet High School (2017), White Mountains Regional High School (2016), and Bow High School (2015). Sanborn Regional High School last won this award in 1998.
