Theater
Made in Maine

What are you doing this January?  How about getting out and supporting some live theater?!  A production, a reading, a class - plenty to partake of in the coming month.

But be certain to get down to see The Conquest of the South Pole - theater at its most alive!  A vivid, quirky, startling look at the lives of some unemployed Maine men looking for a way to empower themselves in a journey of the imagination you'll remember for years to come.

Theater Made in Maine starts with you - make your reservation today!

Sincerely,

The Conquest of the South Pole
opens January 26th

Four unemployed Rumford Maine mill workers at the very edge of despair concoct an innovative way to empower themselves amidst the hardships of their lives.  Led by their magnetic leader Slupianek (Ian Carlsen), they reenact, in an attic crowded with discarded furniture and hanging sheets, Amundsen's successful conquest of the South Pole, in order to face, and hopefully conquer, their own d emons.

The Guardian called The Conquest of the South Pole a "vivid, achingly alive play," while The Chicago Critic described it as "a spirited, often funny journey of desperation with loads of heart...filled with humor, wit and a child-like playfulness."

The Conquest of the South Pole  will have seven performances:

Friday January 26 at 7:30 pm
Saturday January 27 at 7:30 pm
Sunday January 28 at 2:00 pm
Thursday February 1 at 7:30 pm
Friday February 2 at 7:30 pm
Saturday February 3 at 7:30 pm
Sunday February 4 at 2:00 pm

PLAYLAB features
a beautiful new play
about friendship

At CafĂ© Pamplona in Harvard Square, a man must come to terms with the actions - and inactions - he took in the life and death of his best friend.

An intimate peek into how friendships age, wither, and ultimately ripen with time,  Dave's Last Name by Paul Dervis will be featured in this month's PLAYLAB series, where Maine playwrights get an airing of their brand new full-length works for the stage.

WHEN:     Tuesday, January 30 at 7:00 pm
