The Children's Trust Announces
Promote Your Event for FREE on our Community Calendar!
If your organization is having an event, let us know and we'll help you promote it. Events can be for the community at large or specific to other service providers in Miami-Dade County. The only requirement is that they offer no- or low-cost opportunities to attendees; please note that we are unable to include galas and fundraisers at this time. Events can be health fairs, back-to-school events, movie screenings, training and professional development, or similar events. Simply fill out our online Community Outreach and Calendar Request form at least two weeks prior to your event to get started.
ConnectMiami 2018 - Join the Movement
More than 100 community partners and providers came together last year to increase connectivity, empathy and understanding across lines of difference in Miami-Dade County - and ConnectMiami and the 10 Days of Connection were born. The initiative grew to 15,000+ participants who pushed themselves outside their comfort zones to further explore and ultimately embrace diversity, and it's time to talk about how to top that success in 2018. SPARK Training - Northwest
The Children's Trust is sponsoring a SPARK curriculum training for YAS providers on Friday, March 16, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. , at the North Pointe YMCA Family Center, located at 735 NW 186th Street, Miami, FL 33015. If your agency implements SPARK for its fitness programming, the staff member who delivers your SPARK curriculum should attend. Registration required; reserve your spot via our community calendar . FREE Summer Meals for Children & Youth - Sign Up TODAY!
Summer BreakSpot, a program that provides free meals to children and youth ages birth-18 years at participating service sites, is underway. We encourage ALL children and youth summer program providers to contact sponsors TODAY to secure participation at each of their program service sites. Be sure to confirm available menus (hot or cold) and delivery times BEFORE making a decision on which sponsor best meets the needs of your participants and program environment. In addition, we strongly urge providers to designate their program service sites as “open sites,” where children and youth ages birth-18 years living in their communities may also participate in the free meals program, even if they do not participate in provider programming. Open sites serve a critical role in minimizing food insecurity in Miami-Dade while schools are closed and are, for some children, a literal lifesaver. The Children’s Trust is also supporting Florida Impact efforts to increase accessibility to summer meals for those children who have no access to open sites, through pediatric clinics and WIC and HUB sites. Peer-to-Peer Mental Health Recovery Education Course
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Miami-Dade County announces its FREE Peer-to-Peer Recovery Education program, a recovery-focused, five-week educational program for adults who wish to establish and maintain wellness in response to mental health challenges. This in-person group experience is led by peers, for peers, and provides the opportunity for mutual support and positive impact. Participants can expect compassion and reinforcement from others who can relate to their experiences. Participation is confidential and takes place in a sincere, uncritical and accepting environment. Whole School, Whole Child, Whole Community Workshop
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation announces a Healthy Out-of-School Time (HOST) training on Friday, March 9, 9 a.m. - noon , at the United Way of Miami-Dade, 3250 SW 3rd Avenue, Miami, FL 33129. Participants will learn how to strengthen partnerships with the schools they work with and become community health advocates with strategies from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This training is FREE to after-school program providers that maintain service sites on public school grounds. Healthy snacks and beverages will be provided. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Insight and More announces Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), an 8-hour course that teaches any adult how to support an adolescent who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Training helps you identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of addictions and mental illness. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development and provides a 5-step action plan on how to help young people in both crisis and noncrisis situations.   • Research & Evaluation Analyst To serve as a critical member of both cross- and interdepartmental teams who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to particular child, youth and family program areas and populations. Primary responsibilities include the identification and critical review of evidence-based/best practices in specified program areas; assistance for funded service providers and Trust staff on development of program performance measures; oversight of reporting methods for capturing program performance; regular appraisal of basic program performance statistics and data analyses; contribution to reports that explain initiative results to a variety of audiences; and systems enhancement to ensure accountability. This exempt salaried position works under general supervision and support of a senior research and evaluation analyst.

Grants Developer
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Miami seeks a grants developer to join an integrated program, administrative and development team responsible for securing annual public and private corporate and foundation grants to benefit the organization. Specific responsibilities include owning and driving a high-performing grants development program that identifies, researches and drafts grant proposals to achieve the annual integrated budget goals of BBBS Miami. This position collaborates closely with finance, quality assurance, development and related program staff in developing the appropriate strategies for grant submission, as well as submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant-funded projects. Grants Manager
Lotus House women's shelter seeks an experienced grants manager with bookkeeper experience (specifically, Quickbooks) to assist with financial and contractual reporting, as well as compliance to funding and regulating agencies. Responsibilities include without limitation, generating and interpreting financial reports, classing of revenue and expenses, narrative and financial reporting to various funding and government agencies, other contract and grant compliance matters, and more. Teachers - Lead *
Play and Learn Preschool seeks passionate teachers who can support young children's play, exploration, inquiry and creative/critical thinking, while working collaboratively to provide the highest quality child care to our families. Available Positions at the Center for Family and Child Enrichment

  • Administrative Assistant – Utilization To be responsible for assisting in various areas, primarily focusing on supporting the behavioral health department and obtaining insurance authorizations. Ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma and one year experience working in a medical office handling insurance authorizations and scheduling.
  • Clinical Therapist – Per Diem To provide consistent individual and/or family therapy to clients, while developing and maintaining an appropriate treatment plan in conjunction with clients and families. Ideal candidate will possess master’s degree in behavioral science discipline with license in related field (LMCH, LCSW or LMFT) and two years' experience conducting therapy. Compensation based on piece rate for billable services.
  • Nurse Case Manager To provide expertise as an educator, consultant and facilitator, and provide quality patient care via the development, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care plans and patient education sessions. Current state of Florida RN license, including certification in BLS and ACLS, a must, as is minimum two years' relevant experience. Some evening and Saturday hours also required.
  • Targeted Case Manager – Per Diem To develop and review service plans and implement activities that ensure access to needed services documented in service plan. Will also be responsible for advocating for clients at meetings, i.e., multidisciplinary, utilization review, school staffing, court and permanency staffings, etc. Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science discipline and one year experience working with at-risk youth.

Available Positions at the Institute for Child and Family Health

  • CAT Children Mentor To assist clients with educational, vocational and life skills development, and help families enhance their family support network. Minimum high school diploma and at least one year experience working with children and adolescents in group, classroom, tutoring or related settings. Must also be knowledgeable in areas of child development, family functioning, child abuse and neglect, and resistant clients; skilled in collaborating with other disciplines and services; possess a strong ability to work directly with the public; and able to work in a busy and often hectic environment. Availability to provide in-home services and work evening hours required.
  • Care Coordinator - Palm Beach County Partnered with a licensed mental health and developmental clinician, care coordinator helps decrease toxic stress in the home environment and enhances opportunities for optimal child development, thereby promoting healthy brain development for infants and young children; and to that end takes the lead in connecting clients and their families with desired, community-based services and supports while maintaining the Child First home-based intervention program's reflective, relationship-based stance. Must also enhance caregiver executive functioning skills (e.g., planning, organizing, managing time, focusing attention, regulating emotions, reflecting on progress) and engage in interactive play with young children in the home.
  • Developmental Specialist II - PACE Program To provide support to Developmental Specialists I when conducting parenting classes and parent-child interaction groups, purchasing and maintaining program materials, and obtaining donations from community partners. Bachelor’s degree in mental health or related field (degree in child development preferred); knowledge in areas of child development, infant mental health, family functioning, child abuse and neglect, and resistant clients; and proven skill in collaborating with other disciplines and services required. Must also participate in and successfully complete training on The Incredible Years Curriculum.
  • Developmental Specialist II - Temporary Full-Time To implement interventions and educate pregnant women and/or women with children birth-3 years of age in breastfeeding, childbirth, parenting skills, smoking cessation, safety, nutrition and any other related topic regarding a healthy pregnancy and having a healthy baby. Bachelor’s-level degree in mental health or related field (child development preferred); proven knowledge of child development; minimum one year experience providing home visits; proven skill in collaborating with other disciplines and services; and proven skill in using Word and Excel all a must; minimum one year experience working with pregnant women and/or women with children birth-3 years of age preferred, as is certification in Parents as Teachers (PAT).
  • Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Program Supervisor To provide clinical supervision and documentation review to ensure that services are family centered and focused on increasing youth’s ability to successfully cope with life challenges and build resiliency using fidelity to the FFT model. Must also ensure services are provided in a timely manner, are of high quality and are consistent with eligibility criteria, in accordance with the contract/funder, COA standards, agency policies and procedures, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Must possess master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling; minimum three years’ experience working with children and/or adolescents with behavioral health needs; knowledge of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children/adolescents and families, child development, family functioning, co-occurring disorders, crisis intervention, and child abuse and neglect; an active license with Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling; and be an approved qualified supervisor or become a qualified supervisor in the state of Florida within 30 days of hire.
  • Hourly Direct Therapists - Licensed and Unlicensed To be responsible for, but not limited to, conducting intakes (licensed), participating in monthly case staffing meetings and implementing therapeutic treatment plans for emotionally disturbed children/adolescents through individual, group therapy and behavioral management. Master's level degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy or psychology with current state of Florida license or Registered Intern status with state of Florida. Two years' experience with severely emotionally disturbed children; knowledge in areas of child development, family functioning, child abuse and neglect, and resistant clients; and proven skill in collaborating with other disciplines and services a must. Bilingual fluency preferred; background screening required. Full- and part-time positions available.
