Before Wednesday's City Council meeting, the Women's Caucus announced its support for the #MeToo Movement. Along with many others, I told my own story. Here's coverage at ABC News.

City Council Update
At City Council, I took several important votes on your behalf this week.
I voted against $5.5 million of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) support for Presence Health to improve its new Loop headquarters. While Presence provides many fine health care services across the city, it
does not provide comprehensive reproductive health care, including transmission of HIV; fertilization services, birth control; tubal ligation; miscarriage treatment even when her health is threatened; and abortion even in cases of rape and incest or if her health is at risk.
I voted with Council to approve contracts negotiated with 31 unions representing 7,700 employees (about 1/5 of the city's workforce), including laborers, drivers, and trade unions. The city won key concessions - including reducing the city's share of healthcare costs by $12.5 million (increasing healthcare premiums by 50% and increasing deductibles), increased probationary periods and lowered wages for new hires. The new contracts also include recommendations of the Absenteeism Task Force regarding medical leaves. Work rule changes were also negotiated resulting in more services for taxpayers such as new services by Streets and Sanitation to do more alley and sidewalk cleanups. These concessions allowed me to vote for the new agreements.

Police Updates
The 18th District has issued a community alert for a robbery that occurred Tuesday in the
500 block of West Wisconsin St. at approximately 6:01 p.m.
The offenders fled the scene in a white Nissan Maxima. The offenders are described as an African-American male, 5'09" to 5'11" Offender #2 African-American female, 5'09" to 5'11." More information is here.

Arrest Made in Lincoln Park Thefts
The police apprehended Ronald Howard, who stole air conditioning units from several Lincoln Park homes and tried to sell them at construction sites. He is charged with felony theft. We believe he has been involved in other thefts and are following this case in court advocacy. Please join our dedicated group of court advocates led by John Roberts. Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree Recycling Program runs through January 21, at Lincoln Park on Cannon Drive, opposite the Peggy Notebaert Museum. Drop your tree off and get free mulch! Please don't dump your tree with your trash.
