           Every "person" or every "being?"
The UUA Board at General Assembly June 2017 announced that it will appoint a Study Commission to look at possible changes to our Principles and Purposes. The First Principle Project will look at changing the last word of our 1st Principle from every "person" to every "being?" What might this mean? How might this change our actions?

January Shared Plate Collection
Pajaro Valley Women's Shelter

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has selected the Pajaro Valley Women's Shelter in Watsonville for our Shared Plate Collection in January.  Their mission is to assist homeless women, children, and families to obtain stable housing through temporary shelter and services. By lifting their dignity, identifying their barriers, and helping to set their goals, homeless families will develop the skills and attitudes necessary to move on to stable housing and improved economic self-sufficiency.

Collection Box for Women's Shelter

A box to collect new and CLEAN gently used linens, pillows, blankets and towels for the Women's shelter in Watsonville is placed at the entrance to the Fellowship. Please bring any CLEAN, gently used bed linens, blankets, pillows and towels to the Fellowship on Sundays through the month of January. The Watsonville Small Group Ministry will deliver them to the Women's Shelter in Watsonville.

More information about the Pajaro Valley Women's Shelter can be found here.

Book Club
January 18 at 10:30am  UUFSCC

If it is a sunny warm day we will meet in The Patio.
If it is a wintery day, we will meet in The Gallery.

Our book for January is The Country Life by Rachel Cusk. It is a rich and subtle novel about embarrassment, awkwardness, and being alone; about families or the lack of them; and about love in some peculiar guises.

Please join us for a lively discussion which usually lasts about an hour. Bring your own cup of coffee or tea.

New Small Group Ministry Program
Starting in February 2018

I believe we can change the world if we start listening to one another again...Simple, truthful conversation where we each have a chance to speak, we each feel heard, and we each listen well. - Margaret Wheatley

Small Group Ministry provides an opportunity to explore deeper spiritual questions and to express our Unitarian Universalist principles and values in the congregation and in the larger community. Within the framework of groups of 8 to 10 people, Small Group Ministry allows us to be present in each other's lives in an open, supportive, and nurturing environment.

About the groups:
* Meet once a month for a one-year commitment in a private home or at the Fellowship.
* Have a trained facilitator and use a regular format.
* Participants covenant how to relate to each other, how to serve the congregation and how to serve the community.

Groups will begin meeting the week of February 5, 2018 . Registration will take place after Sunday Services or online on the Fellowship website here

The final date to register is Sunday, January 28. Questions? Please call Ann 831-359-8096 or Sangye 831-345-2004.
