Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine: MedAchieve Program Helps Minority Students Succeed in Careers in Medicine
  
According to the Journal of the National Medical Association, African Americans comprise 13 percent of Americans but only four percent of U.S. physicians. MedAchieve, a medical science enrichment program serving mainly black and Hispanic students interested in the medical sciences, is attempting to change that.   Learn more.

Growing up in Azerbaijan, Yusif was frequently attacked for being gay. Over the years, he was beaten up at school, punched and kicked by neighbors, and pelted with rocks and had homophobic slurs written on the door of his family's home. The violence escalated when he was 18.  Learn more.

Caroline Park, a P&S student competing in the 2018 Olympics in South Korea, is not the first Columbia medical student or graduate to compete on the world stage as an Olympian, but she is thought to be the first to compete in the Winter Olympics.  Learn more.

Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Hosts Second Annual Long Island Brain Bee

The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell was abuzz with young scholars on Feb. 3, 2018, for the second annual Long Island Brain Bee, a regional high school science competition. Competitors included 35 students, ages 14-18, from high schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Learn more.
NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine and Catholic Health Services Continue Partnership

Earlier this year, NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) entered into an agreement with Catholic Health Services (CHS) to further advance patient-centered, community-based health care on Long Island. Through this partnership, CHS will expand its number of seats for NYITCOM students to do medical rotations and pursue residencies and fellowships after they graduate.  Learn more.
