2018 Award Nominations Due April 1st
Fellows, help your mentor, colleague or friend earn the recognition they deserve for their achievements and nominate them for a 2018 American Academy of Optometry Award. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, April 1, 2018. Award descriptions and guidelines for nominations can be found on the Awards webpage. 
Board of Directors Nominations Due April 3

This is an election year for the Academy Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee is working to develop a slate of candidates for the next Board of Directors election at Academy 2018 San Antonio. They are seeking your help with names of potential candidates who are Fellows of the Academy and have, in your opinion, the experience and demonstrated leadership abilities to be considered for the Academy Board. If you are an Academy Fellow and you know of Fellows willing and able to serve the Academy in this leadership capacity, please submit the name(s) by April 3, 2018 to Bonnie Rizzo at  [email protected].
Student Travel Fellowships Available for ARVO 2018

Through a generous grant from Johnson & Johnson Vision, the Academy is pleased to provide a limited number of $750 student travel fellowships to student members attending the ARVO meeting to present their research. The application window is open from  February 20 to March 5, 2018 Learn more...

NEI 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge

The National Eye Institute (NEI) 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge (NEI 3-D ROC 2020) is a $1-million federal prize competition designed to generate lab-grown human retinas from stem cells. Organoids developed for the competition will mimic the structure, organization, and function of the human retina, the light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye. Joseph T. Barr Early Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award

The submission window for the Joseph T. Barr Early Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award is open until April 1, 2018. The award is designed to provide an entering first or second year MS or PhD vision science or physiological optics student attending a North American School/College of Optometry support of $2,000 for research project seed funding in the area of cornea/ocular surface or contact lenses. The AAOF has extended the deadline for applying for the Jill and George Mertz Fellowship to March 30, 2018. AAOF Student Giving Matching Travel Grants

The Student Giving Matching Travel Grants window is now open and closes on June 15, 2018. Students are challenged to raise $750, either through gifts by fellow students or a variety of fundraising activities. The AAOF will match that amount so the AAO student chapter can award two travel fellowships to Academy 2018 San Antonio. Groups should work in consultation with their institution's AAO Faculty Student Chapter Liaison. Learn more...
