Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program is a Pre-requisite - Free for Public and Private School Educators
The intention of the 6.5-hour mindfulness recharge retreat is to provide an intensive mindfulness session that assist participants to firmly and effectively recharge and reinforcing the participant’s use of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction skills. In the morning participants will attend MBSR silent retreat that includes a mindfulness formal and informal practices. Afternoon will provide opportunity for participants to explore their successes and challenges in implementing these practices for themselves, with their students, and within their schools. Strategies will be shared to support their mindfulness practice.
The retreat is based on the principles of the scientifically-informed approach of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, in 1979. Clinical studies demonstrate a decrease in physical and psychological negative symptoms. Mindfulness-Based Interventions have been shown to result in improvements which include but are not limited to: reducing stress, reducing anxiety, preventing depression relapse, helping with sleep and eating disorders, preventing relapse of substance abuse, improving focus and concentration, improving relationship skills, strengthening emotional regulation and resilience, developing relaxation and deepening a sense of well-being.
