East Bay RPC To Talk Meters & Candidates
BIA|Bay Area's East Bay Regional Policy Committee will learn the details of a new meter regulation and deliberate June election candidates and issues during its meeting set for March 15, 2018. Starting at 10 a.m., the committee will hear a presentation from East Bay Municipal Utility District Water Conservation Manager Richard Harris and Customer Services Manager Andrew Lee about the implementation of a new state law requiring the installation of separate water meters for multi-family units. Following EBMUD's talk, the committee will consider candidates and issues on the June 5, 2018, ballot for possible recommendations to the Build Jobs PAC. Open to BIA members only, the meeting will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at KB Home's Training Room (first floor), Bishop Ranch 8, 5000 Executive, Parkway in San Ramon. Bay Area Jobs-Housing Imbalance Continues Unabated
Seven years into a 30-year regional plan for how to provide adequate jobs and homes, the San Francisco Bay Area is 111 percent ahead on jobs but remains 28 percent in the hole on housing. According to the latest jobs and housing permit data from the California Construction Industry Research Board (CIRB) and Employment Development Department (EDD,) the region in 2011 through 2017 approved 138,232 new residential units while creating 627,400 new jobs. SF Bay Area Sees Localized Housing Uptick
San Francisco Bay Area cities and counties issued 28,623 housing permits in 2017, a 35 percent increase over 2016 and the largest annual numerical boost in more than three decades. But the gains were entirely in San Francisco and Santa Clara and Alameda counties. The other six Bay Area counties saw reductions in the number of housing permits between 2016 and 2017, according to figures released by the California Construction Industry Research Board (CIRB). Recovery Cafe Grand Opening
Please join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the remodeled Recovery Café San Jose on  February 15th .  HomeAid and the BIA have partnered with Recovery Café for over 7 years assisting with remodeling of the workforce housing apartments on site (with William Lyon Homes), remodeling of the commercial pantry with Irvine Company and raising over $100,000 in grants with Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation, HEDCO and our BIA Bay Area/HomeAid Building Hope fundraisers.  We are proud to assist the Recovery Café San Jose team in their efforts to provide a healing community for those traumatized by addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges.
