1. UCOP Updates
In response to the CA State Audit and recent California State Legislation, the Office of the President has updated BFB-BUS-43 Purchases of Goods and Services; Supply Chain Management and the standard UC Terms and Conditions of Purchase. New requirements include changes to; the maximum contract term, using UC agreement templates, and contracting out for services. Please visit the UCOP Policy Pages to see the latest version of the policy and the terms can be found at UC Terms & Conditions. Key changes to the policy include:

  • The total contract duration (initial term plus all renewal terms) may not exceed 10 years unless the Chief Procurement Officer has approved an exception.
  • Agreements must use UC approved templates rather than Supplier paper unless the Chief Procurement Officer approved an exception.
  • UC may not, as a part of a contract that displaces UC employees, pay to train workers located in foreign countries, or who plan to relocate to a foreign country.

3. BearBuy Forms Survey
Do you use BearBuy Forms? We want your feedback!

Supply Chain Management has launched a project to improve the BearBuy experience. The Forms Project team has representatives from a range of campus units from academic to research. According to campus feedback, many users would like to see improvements made to forms. During the team's review, they found that many other UC campuses have moved to consolidating most procurement forms into three major types: Goods, Services and Payment Requests. We would like to invite you to share your thoughts in a brief survey to determine what you would like to see in the redesign.

4. Cell Signaling Technology Supplier Update
On February 2, 2018 the Cell Signaling Technology contract will expire. Despite extensive efforts by UCOP to renew this contract, the University and Cell Signaling were unable to reach an agreement on pricing and terms and therefore the decision was made to allow this contract to expire.

The Cell Signaling Technology catalog in BearBuy will remain active until February 1st, if you currently use this catalog please make arrangements to purchase directly from Cell Signaling after this date. For more information about ordering from Cell Signaling Technology please contact Adrian Tabula: adrian.tabula@cellsignal.com
