JOHN WATERS
KEYNOTE SPEAKER & TROUBLEMAKER

As an American film director, screenwriter, author, actor, stand-up comedian, journalist, and Baltimore native, John Waters rose to fame in the early 1970s for his transgressive cult films. While he is most well-known for breaking boundaries of acceptable filmmaking--his movies often cover topics of drugs, queers, abortion, and religion--Waters achieved box office and critical success for writing and directing Hairspray, which was adapted into a long-running Broadway musical. An accomplished writer, photographer, and visual artist ( exhibiting at last year's Venice Biennale ), he has published several volumes of his journalistic exploits, screenplay collections, and artwork. An openly gay man, Waters is an avid supporter of gay rights and gay pride. He has also authored a string of hysterically funny, bestselling books, including last year's Make Trouble and 2015's hitchhiking diary, Carsick. His live one-man engagements around the country are deliciously raucous and un-PC.

Waters will present "This Filthy World," on Sunday, July 15 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

AALL IN BALTIMORE
GET READY TO BE CHARMED

Great food, distinctive neighborhoods, and plenty of history--"Charm City" is ready to welcome AALL. The Inner Harbor is Baltimore's sightseeing hub, offering sweeping views of the city ( Top of the World Observation Level) and a collection of historic warships (docked below)--it also conveniently features the Hilton Baltimore, AALL's headquarters hotel. This downtown hotel connects directly to the Baltimore Convention Center, is close to restaurants and shopping, and is a quick 15 minutes from the BWI Airport. It is also located next to Camden Yards (home to the Baltimore Orioles).

Reserve your room at the Hilton (or another one of AALL's nearby hotels) through AALL's housing agency and enjoy the ultimate in convenience--at specially negotiated rates. Then rest easy, knowing you can make adjustments to your reservation later, penalty-free.
