Message from the Principal
Lacey Moser

Hart Family and Friends,

The high school and middle school theater productions are one of my family's favorite outings. We are looking forward to attending the Sound of Music this weekend and look forward to seeing many of our Hart families there.

It is January and our 4th graders are four short months from becoming 5th graders and transitioning up to Sloan Creek Intermediate School.  Next Friday they will take a field trip and have the opportunity to take a tour, meet the staff, and experience what a day is like at SCIS.

We are continuing to plan an amazing experience for our students and family with our 1st annual Late Night Leopard Camp Out.  I will be sharing news as we get closer to the date.

With a Full HeART,
Lacey Moser

Student Birthdays and Class Treats

Please contact your student's teacher to make arrangements for date/time to bring birthday treats for your student. Each individual teacher will have knowledge as to a non-instructional time that is best suited to celebrate.

Please bring/send individual type treats (donuts, cupcakes, cookies) as opposed to goodies that have to be sliced and served.

Prior to choosing treats, please ask the teacher if there are any allergies to be aware of.

Additionally, please do not bring treats and/or lunches to share during lunch as feelings can be hurt when students are inadvertently left out due to seating or food allergies.

FLU SEASON REMINDERS:

We are now having students with confirmed cases of Flu (mostly Flu type A). The most common symptoms are stomach ache, fever, headache, and tiredness. If you take your child into the doctor for flu-like symptoms,
please tell the physician that Flu cases are on the rise at school and they may want to Flu swab your child for appropriate diagnosis.

Frequent handwashing is vital to keeping this illness at bay. Now is a good time to review proper handwashing practices with young children. Using soap and rubbing vigorously under running water for about 30 seconds to one minute is  important to get rid of the germs that cause the flu. Asking young
children to "sing the ABCs" at a steady rate while washing will help  them reach the 30 second mark.

As always please keep children at home if they have flu-like symptoms  or are running a fever. We ask that children be free from fever for 24  hours before returning to school to prevent illnesses from spreading. If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed.

Please email  [email protected] and [email protected] with the date and reason for the absence. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

Please click here and refer to the Lovejoy link provided (under the Clinic Department for Hart) for more helpful Flu information:

Thank you for your cooperation!

Senior Project - Volleyball Camp, Grades 1 - 6
January 18th

A message from Rachel Langs, Lovejoy High School Senior

"Hello everyone. My name is Rachel Langs, and I am a senior at Lovejoy High School. For my senior project, I am going to host a volleyball camp for all 1st-6th graders.

The camp will be held at Lovejoy High School on Thursday, January 18th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The cost is $15 per child, and both boys and girls are welcome.

All proceeds will benefit the life skills room at the high school in order for the teachers to purchase additional classroom items for these special kids. Serving as the life skills aide this past semester, and working with PALS for 1 1/2 years, has instilled a desire for me to be a special education teacher.

Next year, I will be attending the University of Kansas where I will be playing volleyball and studying education.

If you would like to make a donation, please provide me with a check made payable to Lovejoy ISD by January 18th.

To register for the camp please rsvp to [email protected] by January 16th. You may contact me at 214.326.3335 if you have any questions."
New! Lovejoy High School Music Theatre
Presents The Sound of Music

Climb every mountain, ford every stream, and follow every rainbow to Lovejoy High School to see Lovejoy High School Performing Arts' musical,
The Sound of Music. The musical is considered one of the masterpieces of modern musical theatre and marked the culmination of the epic Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration. It will be presented January 18th - 20th at 7:00 PM in the Lovejoy High School Auditorium.

Based on a true story in 1938 at the town of Salzburg, Austria, The Sound of Music is a story of love, family, and a life with music. Maria (played by Senior, Hannah Hansen), a young postulant, is too high-spirited for the religious life of a nun, so she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of the widowed Captain von Trapp (Senior, Jack Supan), a family that Maria slowly begins to fill with joy, laughter, and music.

The Sound of Music is a show for everyone, and includes beautiful inspirational music and characters whom audiences will adore, such as Captain von Trapp's "wealthy and sophisticated" would-be fiancée Baroness Elsa Schräder (Senior, Raegan Vaughn); the von Trapp children: Liesl (Junior, Marcie Sawyers), Friedrich (Willow Springs 8th Grader, Aidan Abramson), Louisa (Freshman, Grace Felton), Brigitta (Freshman, Catherine O'Brien), Kurt (Sloan Creek 5th Grader, Brock Bernal), Marta (Sloan Creek 5th Grader, Rachel Dobbs), and Gretl (Puster Elementary 4th Grader, Sophie Brooks); as well as Captain von Trapp's great friend and music producer Max Detweiler (Sophomore, Zachary Joyner).

The Sound of Music offers beloved and iconic songs such as "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Edelweiss," and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," filling the show and audience with both heart-warming and heart-wrenching emotion for this timeless classic.

Tickets are $12 for students, seniors, and staff, and $16 for adults. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here .

This inspirational musical will become one of your "Favorite Things!" Be sure to see the show at the Lovejoy High School Auditorium.
