    The extensive and thoughtful community input received at public events, the design charrette, on-line surveys, stakeholder meetings and individual conversations held through-out 2017 has been used to create the new Waterfront Area Plan!  Join us in the New Year to see and learn about the new plan.  There will be a public drop-in event followed by a presentation.  The event details are below:

Join the  Tourism Cowichan team for a 30-minute Coffee Talk on Tuesday, February 6th at the Ladysmith Visitor Centre. Book a 30-minute session with us to learn how you can leverage the media, social media and marketing opportunities we offer you as a Tourism Cowichan stakeholder. We want to help share your story with the world - whether you need video, print media, or a larger presence online, we will tell you about paid and unpaid opportunities to do so. Tourism Cowichan subsidizes your investment regardless of how much you spend, so we will be able to tell you how to best work with us to increase eyes on your business. Book your session today - sessions are a first come, first serve basis, so don't delay!

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. It provides wage subsidies to employers to create employment for secondary and post-secondary students. Again this year, Canada Summer Jobs welcomes applications from small businesses, not-for-profit employers, public sector and faith-based organizations that provide quality summer jobs for students.

CSJ provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

Nominations are open for the 2018 Black Tie Awards

Nominations for the Black Tie Awards are now open and remain open until January 31, 2018. The Duncan Cowichan Chamber holds the Black Tie Awards to celebrate excellence and raise the profile of the business community and non-profit sector in Cowichan. The Awards Gala on April 7, 2018 is also a fundraiser with a silent auction and draws.

The Black Tie Awards are a community-wide event and everyone is invited to nominate. There are eight award categories recognizing excellence in customer service, volunteerism, art, business, environmental practices and there is a young entrepreneur category. All businesses or organizations in the Cowichan Valley Regional District that meet the criteria can be nominated. Both non-members and members are eligible.  Read More...
Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games

The Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games are around the corner and our region needs your help! 3000 volunteers are required to assist with all aspects of hosting the G ames including transportation, ceremonies, accommodations, meals and venue management at 27 venues across the Cowichan Valley, including Ladysmith. You can apply to volunteer here.

Nominate a youth for a Leaders of Tomorrow Award!   This is your opportunity to nominate youth (age 6 to 24) that demonstrate leadership through their volunteer efforts.   This event is "all about the nomination", acknowledging all efforts made by each volunteer in their own special way.  The LOT Team is seeking your nominations for the Leaders of Tomorrow Awards.
The awards event to be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Island Saving Center.
Deadline for nominations is Friday, March 2, 2018.  Don't delay nominate today!
