Thank you to Islamic Relief USA for participating in our Sponsor Purchased Food program on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Volunteers helped bag 10,000 lbs of produce for Arlington families in need. A special thank you to all the volunteers who participated in Volunteer Arlington's MLK Day of Service. GardenSpring Garden Kick-off

AFAC's annual Spring Garden Kick-off is on Saturday, February 10 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (4000 Lorcom Lane) - the site of our largest Plot Against Hunger garden in Arlington. Learn how to start a garden for AFAC and pick up basic and advanced gardening tips. Take part in an on-site pruning demonstration along with various other activities. Free vegetable, flower, and herb seeds will be given out to attendees. Click here to RSVP for this free event!

Save the date: AFAC will host its annual Spring event: Shining a Light on Hunger, at the Army/Navy Country Club on Thursday, April 19. This invigorating and engaging event welcomes individuals and families for a night of elegance, inspiration, and action with light hors d'oeurves, drinks, and entertainment.

RaceBody by Ginny 5k Obstacle Race

Calling all runners! Body by Ginny will have her annual 5K obstacle race on Saturday, April 29 at Potomac Overlook Park. Get your team together and start training for this fun obstacle race that goes over the creek and through the woods! All proceeds from this race go to AFAC. Registration is live. Partner Agency Seeks Recurring Volunteers

One of AFAC's partner agencies, AHC, is looking for help at its Woodbury Park location. The distribution is every Thursday morning from 9:30-11:00am located at the Community Center (2230 N. Fairfax Dr. Arlington VA 22201). Interested volunteers can contact Becky Koons directly ( [email protected] ).  They are looking for at least 2 volunteers who can commit to coming each week.

Special thanks to Giant Food at Virginia Square for hosting an AFAC Drive Away Hunger food drive this weekend. Volunteers from AFAC & the Junior League of Northern Virginia collected 2,126 pounds of food for our neighbors in need!
