Flood watch issued from Monday evening through late Tuesday night
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a flood watch, which will be in effect from Monday evening through late Tuesday night. A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Precautionary measures should be taken, especially by those living in areas prone to flooding.
Unseasonably warm and moist air will overspread the region over the next few days with several rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected between early Monday morning and Wednesday. Area-wide precipitation totals of over an inch with localized amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible.
Grounds remain frozen, therefore much of the rain will result in rapid runoff. In addition, melting snow will compound runoff from heavy rainfall. Expect rises on area rivers and streams that may result in flooding.
Should your street become flooded, please contact Public Works during business hours at 847.432.0807 or report it through the City's non-emergency request tracker, which will allow residents to see if their street has already been reported and allow residents to see the status of the work. After hours, please call the City's non-emergency number at 847.432.7730. If you have an emergency, call 911.
