January Program - Plant Tour and Presentation at FischerSIPS

Time: 11:45 am - 1:45 pm

On January 16th FischerSIPS, a local manufacturer of structural insulated panels, will open its doors to interested individuals for a plant tour.  The tour will begin at 11:45 a.m. with the owner of the company Damian Pataluna describing the process of how the panels are manufactured and fabricated.  There will also be an unfinished mobile tiny home that will be made accessible for those who would like to see how SIPS can be used in that niche market application.
 
When the tour ends at 12:30 we will depart to the offsite conference facility.  Lunch will be served and the AIA approved presentation will begin promptly and last 1 hour.  Company representatives will be available afterwards to answer any questions.

AIA Presentation:  Structural Insulated Panels
 
The course will explain the benefits of designing with structural insulated panels including energy optimization.  The designer will gain a better understanding of application, assembly and detailing in order to properly utilize SIPs.  Through case studies and design strategies, the designer will walk away from this course with a better understanding of designing for current industry standards with SIPs.
 
Course Format: This is a structured, live, instructor-led course.
Course Credit: 1 Health Safety & Welfare (HSW) CE Hour.  SIPA will submit your name for AIA credit if you include your AIA number on the Course Attendance form.
Completion Certificate: A copy is sent to you by email upon request. When you fill out the Course Attendance, please indicate if you need one. Also please ensure the information you provide is legible.

2018 AIA/CKC Associate Grant Applications - Deadline Approaching

The AIA Central Kentucky Chapter is now taking applications for AIA Associate Grants for the year 2018. The Board will also accept applications the Emerging Professionals Grants. This is a continuation of a successful program that gets Architectural Interns and Emerging Professionals active in the Central Kentucky Chapter. For those not familiar with the program, each year the AIA/CKC pays the membership costs for up to ten people to become Associate AIA members and for two licensed architects who have been licensed under 5 years and have never been an AIA member. Grant recipients are expected to be active in the chapter for the year the chapter pays for their membership, then continue their activity in future years and become the next generation of chapter leaders.

AIA Associate grant recipients are asked to serve on one or more of the following committees: Trade Fair, Programs, AXP, Communications (Website), House Tour, Urban Design, and Membership (Social).

Additionally ALL grant recipients will be expected to help on the day of the Trade Fair on March 6, 2018 and the day of the House Tour (date to be determined).

Current and prospective AIA Associate members are eligible. Applications should be returned by email to [email protected] by January 9, 2018. Up to ten AIA Associate Grants and two Emerging Professional Grants will be awarded. Questions may be directed to Jean paul at (502)454-5632 ext 32.
