As we enter into 2018, our LAG board is evaluating what is working, or not, with our monthly
member's program. We are trying to bring fun, interesting activities to our meetings with
hands-on projects (last month we learned how to do Kumhimo braiding to make "friendship
bracelets). We include an informal art show by voting for our favorite piece to win a cash prize,
and an art swap so members can exchange art supplies. Well-known guest artists are still part
of our program, sharing their unique artistic techniques.
We want your feedback! Please let us know how you like this format, any suggestions for
improvements or changes. Or just a "thumbs-up" if you like it the way it is. This is your Guild
and we want it the best it can be!
Please just take a minute or two and send us your thoughts by completing this quick survey.

Artist Social, Mini Art Show, Art Swap and Activity with Christine Jarvis - "Pulled String Art."
Anyone can make unique works of art by dipping string into paint or ink, making pulled string art. Christine will provide all materials for this fun activity, but it can be a little messy so bring an apron or smock. Christine is a dedicated
mixed media recycle addict who specializes in acrylics and found objects, she is often found digging through piles of discards looking for just the right accent for a piece. Her work tends to focus on science and the environment, the deviance of man, the increasing world population, the effects of industry on the planet and the consequences this has on nature. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise that lead to the next body of work. She won 1
st
place at the Boulder County Fair in 2017 for mixed media.
May 9 -
Artist Social, Mini Art Show & Activity with Janet Strickler - Design a Mandala.
Design a Mandala(on a cardboard coaster provided), please bring permanent markers, pencils, colored pencils and ruler. Janet Strickler is a mixed media artist living and working in Colorado. She works with many different materials, including recycled and reclaimed objects, construction leftovers and natural materials. Much of her work involves a spiritual element and often uses geometry and pattern. She loves to experiment with new combinations of materials and sharing this playful approach teaching classes at her studio called Play-Shops.
