Technology and Worship
Isn’t technology amazing? We have incredible information and entertainment, distraction and learning all at our fingertips. It’s incredible to share photos and videos, songs and images from around the world in our worship as well. But sometimes it doesn’t work the way we had planned. Or even the way we had rehearsed immediately before worship began! So I thank you for your patience and understanding when our best effort and attempt to bring a video or a song to worship doesn’t go quite as smoothly as expected. This Sunday at our early worship service we could see the images, but couldn’t hear the words or the songs. It worked before church, and worked just fine at the second service, but not at 8:30am. And so, we would like to share those links with you here if you are interested in viewing either the song, “The Silence of God” or the Campbell Farm informational video, here are the links for you.

Peace and love,
Pastor Hanna Peterson Shearer

Sermon: "Be Opened"
Scripture: Mark 7
Preacher: Rev. Hanna Peterson Shearer
Lenten Devotionals
Station Two

Jesus is flogged by the soldiers and the cross is laid upon him as he begins his journey.

Reading : Matthew 27: 27-31

Reflection:
Jesus’ journey begins with a cross. One made by human hands. A cross made from tools and materials created by the Father. The cross wasn’t his. He was innocent. This was our cross. This was the cross of me, you and all those around us.

Prayer:
When you were already hurting
You embraced the cross.
Thank you Jesus. Amen

Activity:
Consider these short steps in the journey Jesus took on our behalf. Consider how, because Jesus took up the cross, you can take up life in all of its fullness. Because he was led to die, you can be led into the eternal life. Because he bore your sin, you can enjoy forgiveness. Take a few moments to thank God again.

Description:
The level of injustice in the world is staggering. The church can respond. International Justice Mission (IJM) has rescued thousands of people from oppression and violence. IJM also partners with thousands of churches to help them live out the mandate of Isaiah 1:17: to seek justice, rescue the oppressed and care for orphans and widows. The God of Justice is a discussion-based curriculum from IJM that explores the biblical narrative of justice throughout the whole of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. Through the participatory study of Scripture, we will explore God's call to engage in bringing about justice on earth. Prepare to have your heart and mind engaged, to be instructed by Scripture, and to be challenged by real-life stories of people freed by the God of justice.

Thank you for the many cards, words of caring, and prayers for our family during this time of my brother's last months and his passing. They have indeed brought us comfort. Our great assurance is that Stan has been released from his struggling and pain. His journey on earth has ended, but he is at home for eternity.

Thank you so much,
Mike and Kay Hadley and family
