Spotlight

Ian Carlsen plays the lead role of Slupianek in  The Conquest of the South Pole in a "riveting" performance (Portland Press Herald) that is the "glue that holds the show tight."  (Broadway World)

Ian has been living in Maine for 30 years of his 32-year-old life.  He's been a Portland resident since 2004 and loves this city very much.  While he spends some of his time acting, he also enjoys writing and birdwatching and finds himself swinging wildly from one to the next.   To make ends meet, he has worked a large number of odd jobs including packaging cat toys, slicing roast beef, pretending to be a scientist for TV, fixing databases, and creating sponges out of dirt.  He is a founding member of the Lorem Ipsum Theater Collective, and is a member of the Mint Films production company. He sends thanks to mum and dad, Bonnie and Kris, his brother, Tyler, and lovely wife Marjolaine for their support!

Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

The reviews are in, the production shots are taken, and the TV interview is in the bag.  One thing is sure - The Conquest of the South Pole is terrific theater, and runs for only four more performances!

Get your crampons on and get down to see what the Portland Press Herald calls an "unconventionally poetic and powerful" show that is "both funny and touching - the play mixes fantasy and reality in both form and content to support a rethinking of the issues faced by the characters."  Don't miss this one!

Sincerely,

Joe Quinn, Al D'Andrea and Kim Gordon gave spot-on performances at PlayLab's most recent offering, "Dave's Last Name" by Paul Dervis - the story of an unusual friendship and how it evolves over time.

The audience offered insightful commentary at the moderated talk-back after the show about this charming, moving new play - thanks to all who participated!

Up next at PLAYLAB (open to the public and free) - "OMNIPHOBIA" by Al D'Andrea - a funny and razor-sharp look at fear in modern society.  Coming to the Portland Ballet Studio Theater April 24.  See you at the theater!
