RIOULT Dance NY - Women on the Edge... Unsung Heroines of the Trojan War

* February 21 | 8:00 pm
* The Williams Center for the Arts

Exceptionally prescient, always electrifying, dance artist Pascal Rioult's ever-expanding oeuvre has produced some of the most memorable works of the past 20 years, his Bolero among them. In Women on the Edge, stories of grace, strength, and resilience are rendered in a contemporary light against newly commissioned music by American composers Michael Torke, Aaron Kernis, and Richard Danielpour.

Ubu Roi - King Ubu
Presented by the Muhlenberg College Theatre & Dance Department

* February 21-24 | 8:00 pm
* Baker Center for the Arts

A riot broke out as the curtain fell on opening night of Ubu Roi in Paris in 1896; Jarry's bizarre, subversive little play was shouted down as an ugly vulgarity and outlawed from the French stage. Since then, however, theatre historians have come to view the play as an essential work of the avant-garde theatre - an irreverent precursor to Dada, Surrealism, and the Theatre of the Absurd. An absurd but trenchant political satire on greed and complacency, Ubu Roi continues to resonate in French society and shock audiences to this day. For mature audiences.

In "Mr. Bach Comes to Call," J.S. Bach (Mark McKenna) returns to life as a window washer who becomes a teacher to help Elizabeth (Abriana Ferrari), a 12-year-old Bethlehemite struggling with his Minuet in G. A lesson on the piano, an instrument not available to Bach, quickly blossoms into a tour of Bach's universe and the spheres in general.
