Redeeming the Old; Making Things New
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Thank You Parents
A big THANK YOU to everyone who responded and brought baked goods to the memorial service for Miss Bev Feldkamp. The outpouring of love that day in her memory was remarkable! The remaining goodies were shared as a lunch treat, offered as part of a bake sale in true Feldkamp fashion, and shared with the homeless sheltered at the Saginaw Rescue Mission. As one parent so nicely noted, we were able to "spread goodness everywhere ... just like Bev did for so many people." The proceeds from the bake sales were $283.25, and those funds will be given to a charity that Miss Feldkamp's students will select. This was a yearly tradition in her class.

Thank You For Making Chicken BBQ a Success
Thank you to all of those that helped make the 2018 Chicken BBQ a success! We appreciated the help from parents and students. Whether you dropped off pie, helped set up, served, cleaned up, or purchased a meal, thank you. We are also grateful to the St. John Amelith Men's Athletic Club for grilling 175 chickens. Money raised from this event will be used toward supporting the VLHS athletic, music, and drama programs.

LEAP Employs Best Practices for Education Boards
Representatives of the Lutheran Education Advancement Plan
have addressed many components of the LEAP vision. One task force has addressed effectiveness training for education boards. The task force has carefully developed, and still continues to enhance a document which presents
53 best practices for Lutheran church/school education boards
or equivalent governing entities.
Training has also occurred at five three-hour "Education Board LEAP-Shop" sessions since 2014. Representatives of all of LEAP schools have participated.
To learn more about LEAP, visit
LEAP-alliance.com.

FOUR-YEAR PLANS
Before you know it, we will be talking about course options for next year. Now is a good time to explore options and put a plan in place, especially if your student is thinking about taking courses through the Saginaw Career Complex, Bay-Arenac Career Center, or dual enrollment options through CUAA or Delta. Mrs. Mueller is more than happy to sit down with students and talk about options or develop a plan!
AXIS.ORG PARENT GUIDES
Talking about issues like smartphones, eating disorders, Snapchat, video games, and sexting with teens can be scary and complicated. But it doesn't have to be! Axis.org has created
these guides to help you understand the things your teens face, how to have conversations about them, and how to biblically disciple your teens into lifelong faith through it all.
7TH SEMESTER or MID-YEAR TRANSCRIPTS
Transcripts that include your student's first semester of their senior year will be available once grades are released. Some colleges request these as an update on their applicants. VLHS uses a program called
Parchment to send documents electronically and securely directly from the school. Please submit all document requests through Parchment. To indicate that you want 7th semester documents sent, please select "Hold for Grades".
