PLANNED EXPANSION OF STATE HISTORICAL MUSEUM COULD BE CITY'S BIGGEST PROJECT EVER

Determined to fulfill a two-decade-long dream, the Wisconsin Historical Society and developers are pursuing a striking new history museum with commercial and residential space above it on Capitol Square that could be the city's biggest project ever.
The State Assembly is moving to exempt electronics maker Foxconn from portions of a bill barring local governments from creating certain kinds of employment ordinances.

A FAVORED ROUTE IS PICKED FOR A HIGH-VOLTAGE TRANSMISSION LINE FROM MIDDLETON TO DUBUQUE

The three utility companies planning a high-powered transmission line from the Madison area to Iowa say they have chosen a preferred route and it is the one that more closely runs along existing highway and power line corridors rather than a route that could cut a longer, new swath through more farms and fields.

HOUSING SALES AND MEDIAN HOME PRICE JUMP IN DANE COUNTY IN JANUARY

Despite a tight housing market during a winter season that is usually slow for the housing industry, home sales increased 15 percent in Dane County in January compared to one year earlier and the median home price increased 10.8 percent, new data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association showed.

Dane County continues moving toward the redevelopment of the massive Alliant Energy Center campus, announcing Tuesday that officials will work with an international development firm to create a comprehensive master plan.

Dane County announced its plans Tuesday to work with an international development firm to create a master plan for the Alliant Energy Center's sprawling campus that will make it a more attractive venue for exhibitions, conferences, concerts and more.

SOUTH MADISON NEIGHBORS WANT CITY TO RETHINK LOCATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT

An apartment building proposed for 1202 S. Park St. will include 58 units for homeless single adults. Neighbors would rather see those units going in to a property slated for two blocks away at 1402 S. Park St., but city officials say it's too late to change plans.

Four years ago, Mayor Tom Barrett's "state of the city" speech included news that an industrial building would be developed at Century City Business Park on Milwaukee's north side.Today, as Barrett prepares for this year's annual speech, that building - designed to help jump-start a business park at the former A.O. Smith Corp./Tower Automotive Inc. complex - remains empty.

MILWAUKEE TELLS HOUSING DEVELOPER TO RENOVATE WALKER'S POINT BUILDING OR DEMOLISH THEM

A delayed plan to redevelop three Walker's Point industrial buildings into high-end apartments is facing a new city order to either begin renovations within six months or raze the structures. 
The final land purchase for Franklin's Ballpark Commons mixed-use development has occurred, with site preparation work to begin next week.
