"It's impactful for me to share [my wife's] memory with others during the Annual Memorial. It's a little more reverent than the [5K] walk with people sharing from the heart, and it's nice to be in that environment and to share with people who get it."

Samaritans Annual Memorial

We invite you to join us on Sunday, January 28, 2018 for Samaritans' Annual Memorial Service where we will share our love and our grief for those we've lost with others who understand.  Whether through song, poem, letter or silent observance - we will remember them. By coming together and memorializing our loved ones, we are able to share the everlasting imprint they have left in our hearts.

When and Where : 3-5PM at the  Unitarian Universalist Church in Arlington Center (630 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington), with a social hour following the program from 5 - 6pm to build upon the community of support we have created at Samaritans.
You did it!

Two anonymous donors promised to match every gift raised by the end of December, up to $50,000! Thank you! Because of your generosity, we met the $50,000 challenge and received the full $50,000 match!

Every dollar that you give helps to save lives by supporting our 24/7 phone and text Helpline, our grief support services for loss survivors, and our suicide prevention workshops. Your support helps to open up important conversations about suicide and reduce the stigma of mental illness.
And They're Off!

Our team overcame the bitter cold to keep training and fundraising for the 2018 Boston Marathon . They have raised more than $25,000 toward our team goal of $145,000 and are well on their way to 26.2 on April 16th.

Meet Rachael, Brian, and Julia and learn why they are running.

On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day we were able to answer close to 400 calls and 84 texts thanks to the dedication of our volunteers who took time out of their holidays to provide compassionate listening and support to those who reached out to us.  We realize that the holidays' can be a very busy time of the year.  Please know that your commitment to Samaritans is truly appreciated.
Workshop  at the Boston International  High school

The Boston International High School, is a high school specifically designed to serve a diverse student body of English Language Learners. We had the good fortune of being invited into the school to present a workshop right before the holiday break by one of their many wonderful teachers.

In these workshops, we had a very honest and open conversation about how difficult it can be adjusting to new surroundings and being away from loved ones, which can be especially triggered by the holidays. We were so appreciative to have the opportunity to hear their stories, share our resources, leave them with some additional skills and tools for how to help themselves and each other, and remind them that Samaritans is a 24/7 compassionate resource they can always rely on.

Suicide prevention training is an essential community need. If your school, company or community organization is interested in arranging a training, you can find more information  here.
