New Year Events at PCL
Happy New Year! We have lots of programs happening at PCL, starting with three, free storytelling events that are part of the statewide FUNDA Fest. Check out the listings below! Please join the Friends of PCL at AS220 on January 26 for the Second Annual Spelling Bee. Each entry ticket raises valuable funds for PCL and if you enter the contest, who knows - you may become this year's champion!  
Get Ready for FUNDA Fest!

PCL is excited to host three performances during the 20th Annual FUNDA FEST: A Celebration of Black Storytelling from January 13- 20, 2018. FUNDA FEST is Rhode Island Black Storytellers' big week long celebration of storytelling  - funda means means to teach and to learn in Zulu and KiSwahili - and features spoken word concerts and workshops for people of all ages. It's a highlight of the winter calendar in the Ocean State.

2nd Annual PCL Spelling Bee

Get ready for another chance to compete for the coveted title of Best Speller in Providence! The PCL Spelling Bee returns to AS220  where you can enjoy drinks, great company and cheer on your favorite speller. Admission is just $5 in advance, $10 at door  and $10 to compete. Sign up to spell from 7:30PM (we recommend that you arrive promptly to avoid disappointment).

"Welcoming Rhode Island" Exhibit Tours PCL Locations

America is a nation of immigrants and people have sought refuge and opportunity in this country for many different reasons, right up to the present day. From January to April 2018, a "Welcoming Rhode Island" storyboard exhibit will go on tour around four Providence Community Library locations.

Expungement Information Session at Mount Pleasant

"Expungement" is a legal procedure. It allows eligible and deserving individuals to have any and all records relating to their criminal charges removed, both from public records and those of law enforcement agencies.

Celebrate National Puzzle Day!

National Puzzle Day is January 29 and Wanskuck Library is celebrating with a lineup of special puzzles created by local puzzle designer and artist Sarah Jane Lapp. Sarah Jane will present a special puzzle program during the Girlz RULE! and Boyz to Gentlemen groups and there will be puzzle activities going on all day. Join us for intergenerational fun, so bring your children, bring your grandparents, bring your friends!
