It's January and everyone has (although already broken for most of us) resolutions to get fit.  So if you are dusting off your walking shoes, Charity Miles would like to help you make it count. 
 
Charity Miles uses the GPS on your phone to earn money for charity.  When you set up an account, you select a charity.  Then for every mile you log, a corporate sponsor donates to that charity.  Yes, for the skeptics out there, the sponsor was going to do something with that charity money anyway.  But for those of us who need a purpose to our plods, it gives us a little extra motivational nudge.

Best Apps to Help You Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

Have you made a New Year's Resolution for 2017 yet? Technology can be a great tool to keep you on track. Check out these apps and website suggestions to help you meet your goals in the coming year.    
FINANCES
 
Android/iOS/Web; $6.99 a month/Free 34-day trial. An alternative to Quicken, Mint, and other budgeting software, You Need a Budget is not just software, but an entire method of budgeting. The monthly fee also grants you access to webinars and tutorials on how to budget and make the most of using the app. YNAB links with your bank account to easily import your transactions and categorize them.

 
iOS/Android; Free. An easy way to keep track of expenses. From the website, use Shoeboxed "to scan and organize receipts and business cards, create expense reports, track mileage and more." Use your smartphone to take a picture of a receipt to upload it. You can also use your phone's GPS to track mileage. Shoeboxed works with Quickbooks, scanners, Evernote, and more.

HEALTH
iOS/Android/Web; Free. MyFitnessPal allows you to track exercise and meals. By inputting your weight, height and health goals, the app will calculate your recommended amount of daily calories. With millions of users, the app has a huge database of foods to make tracking your meals easy. At the end of the day, the app totals not only your consumed calories, but also nutrients (cholesterol, fat, sugar, sodium, etc.).

 
Android/iOS; Free. When you sleep, you typically sleep in 90-minute cycles. This app tracks your sleep cycles and will gently wake you at the optimal time in your sleep cycle. Sleep Cycle can also record and track snoring.  

PRODUCTIVITY AND GOAL SETTING

 
iOS; Free. 30/30 is a simple task list revolving around the concept boosting your productivity by working for 30 minutes with no distractions, then taking a bre ak to do something unrelated for 30 minutes. Then repeat.

 
iOS/Web; Free. Set your goals and achieve them using stickK! This service is great for helping you stay accountable to your goals. First, you set your goal through the app and sign a commitment contract. You will then select a friend to be your referee to confirm that you are on track and provide encouragement. Additionally, you can choose stakes to add to your contract. You can put a minimum of $5 on the line if you don't stick to your goals. You choose where the money goes, whether to a friend, foe or charity.

iOS; Free. Way of Life 3 is the ultimate habit building and breaking app. Need to break or make a habit? Use this app to track whatever you want - eating enough fruits and vegetables? Sleeping well? Exercising enough? Setup reminders to help keep you on track.

 
iOS/Android/Outlook/Web; Free. An easy to use to-do list and task manager with a simple interface. Enter your to-do tasks and Todoist will sync them between your smartphone, tablet, Outlook, and/or web browser. Add tags or categories to your tasks and choose due dates. Set reminders, priorities, notifications, recurring dates, and more.
