 6th GRADE BIZTOWN INTERVIEWS
6th graders have participated in several weeks of classroom learning, including this week's interviews to prepare them for their upcoming day-long visit to this fully-interactive simulated free market lab where students become adults for a day. By working in one of 15 JA BizTown shops, students learn what it takes to run a successful business, manage a checking account and work as a team. Through daily lessons, hands-on activities, and active participation in this simulated community, students develop a strong understanding of the relationship between what they learn in school and their successful participation in a global economy.

Seniors:  The Dollars for Scholars local website is now open.  Go to http://mankatoarea.dollarsforscholars.org to apply.  They give over 25 local scholarships ranging from $500-$1000.  Anyone who has at least a 2.5 GPA and over 40 hours of community service should apply as it is a lottery once the student has those 2 criteria.  There will also be two $1000 scholarships for Loyola students who attend SCC!!  In addition, there are academic scholarships.  ANY SENIOR WHO IS AT ALL INTERESTED IN SCHOLARSHIP MONEY SHOULD APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP.   Important tip concerning the application:  Under "Add an Activity",  choose "volunteer work" or "volunteer church work" (it is listed alphabetically) rather than "community service" or "church/religious" to list your volunteer work.  If you have done it correctly, at the end it will ask you for your grand total # of volunteer hours.  After you put the total in, be sure to hit the "submit app" button.
