Pike County Commissioner Tony Montgomery recently noted several improvements implemented at the Pike County Airport in 2017. According to Montgomery, the airport is a "window to business in Pike County."

"I have been to several advisory board meetings," said Montgomery. "It's nice to see people passionate about Pike County, and especially about the airport. The Pike County Airport is growing. This can be gauged by the increased number of business jets and recreational flyers visiting the airport."

According to Montgomery, the following are improvements that were made to the airport in the past year:

2018 Peoples Bank  Undergraduate 
Business Case Competition

"Peoples Bank is dedicated to investing in our communities through scholastic advancement and outreach," said Chuck Sulerzyski, Peoples Bank President and CEO. "The Case Competition is an opportunity for undergraduate students from multiple colleges and universities to provide a solution to a real world business scenario. The competition allows Peoples Bank to familiarize ourselves with prospective candidates for employment and for students to become familiar with the Marietta area. We were thrilled to welcome 16 teams from 15 universities this year, and are looking forward to the competition growing next year."

Participating schools included: Ohio University, Denison University, Tiffin University, University of Akron, Marietta College, Ohio Valley University, College of Wooster, University of Mt. Union, Ohio Northern University, Oberlin College, Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, Marshall University, Heidelberg University and Kentucky State University.


AAA7 NAMES NEW
Board Officers

At its final meeting of 2017, the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) took the opportunity to recognize Board of Trustees Officers for 2018.

Officers for 2018 are - Executive Director Pamela K. Matura, Gary Fenderbosch of Gallia County serving as Secretary/Treasurer; Patricia Pletcher of Jackson County serving as Vice President; and Rick Marriott of Ross County serving as President.

HELP FEED THE HUNGRY

Can you volunteer a minimum of three hours a month at the Pike County Outreach Council food pantry?

The Outreach Council is looking for dedicated people to do intake or distribute food at the pantry located at 107 W. Second St. in downtown Waverly. The pantry is open Monday -Friday 9-3; Thursday evening 6-8; and Saturday 10-1. Call Autumn at 740-941-4348 if you can assist in this important ministry.

We operate the only food pantry in Pike County. Households may come to the pantry every 7 days. We offer a variety of food for Pike Countians at our choice pantry. We need you to either greet the customers and do the intake paperwork or assist our customers as they choose products from 15 or more categories.

We provided 308,259 meals in 2016.

FY18 IMAGE GRANT PROGRAM
Currently Accepting Applications
Application Deadline - April 1, 2018

The IMAGE program funded through the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) is designed to increase exports and create jobs. STEP is funded through the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Office of International Trade, which provides guidance on the IMAGE grant that offers financial assistance for small businesses to promote their products and services in international markets. The grant will provide a 50 percent reimbursement up to $12,500 per fiscal year for qualifying activities.

ABANDONED GAS STATION CLEANUP
Grant Applications Now Open
Application Deadline - April 30, 2018

The Cleanup and Remediation track of the Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant Program is now accepting applications. Now grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Funding totaling $4 million per fiscal year will be available for these grants. Applicants must have a minimum score of 50 points to be eligible for funding consideration.
 
Applications for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2018 will be accepted until April 30, 2018 . Applications received after this date may be funded in SFY 2019.
