Virginia Distillers to Kick Off Craft Spirits Roadshow
The Virginia Distillers Association is announcing the first stop on its inaugural Virginia Craft Spirits Roadshow will be Nov. 18 at the Virginia Distillery Company in Lovingston, Va. Eight distilleries will gather together and raise a glass to Women Who Whiskey—a celebration of Virginia Whiskey, the women who love it, and the men who love them both. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of bottles at the event will be donated to the Nelson County Domestic Violence Task Force. (Augusta Free Press)
The number of active craft distilleries in the U.S. grew by 20.8%, with 1,589 distilleries
The American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA), Park Street, and the IWSR presented highlights from the 2017 Craft Spirits Data Project (the Project) at the Second Annual Craft Spirits Economic Briefing at Kings County Distillery in New York. The Craft Spirits Data Project, which was first introduced in 2016, is a first-of-its-kind research initiative that aims to provide a solid and reliable fact base for evaluating performance and trends in the U.S. craft spirits industry.
Maine's Wiggly Bridge Distillery Teams with Luxury Fashion Event
Wiggly Bridge Distillery, a family-owned and operated business that has earned a reputation for its award-winning, small batch spirits, was asked to represent its product in a collaboration with Romeo Hunte New York, a contemporary luxury fashion brand in New York City this past Friday, Oct. 27. Distillers Toast George Washington Distillery's 10th Anniversary
It’s been 10 years since the George Washington Distillery at Mount Vernon reopened—and, arguably, since the rye-naissance started to accelerate. To mark the milestone, distillers from across the country gathered at the restored eighteenth-century production facility to craft a limited edition 10th anniversary rye whiskey. Republic Restoratives Releases D.C.'s First Apple Brandy
The fourth product release from Republic Restoratives, Washington D.C.’s community-funded and community-driven craft distillery, is rooted in one of America’s oldest spirits-making traditions. The orchard-to-glass story of Republic’s latest launch, Chapmans Apple Brandy, starts in Adams County, Pa. where farmer and friend Ben Wenk of  Three Springs Fruit Farm  grew the 2016 crop of Jonagold, Gala, Fuji and Honeycrisp apples that were chosen specifically for this product.
