Christmas Tree Contest Winners

On Sunday, December 10th at the Burke Mountain Club holiday party, the Burke Area Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the Annual Christmas Tree Contest. Fifteen trees were decorated by local schools and businesses for display on the green in East Burke Village. Five winners were chosen and each got to choose a charity to receive $100 on their behalf from the Chamber.

Pictured: Julie Hall, Luke Hall, Grace Hall, Owen Hall, and Kelsi Reese of East Haven Veterinary Service celebrate their victory with Burke Chamber President, Jim O'Reilly. They were one of the winners for Best Business Tree and chose East Haven Library as their charity. Luke, Grace, and Owen helped make the decorations featuring photos of people's pets, and their dad, Jake, made the doghouse.

Century 21 Farm & Forest Realty also won for Best Business Tree with a 'Home Is Where the Heart Is' theme and their charity of choice was the Lyndon Area Food Shelf.

Best School Tree went to the Thaddeus Stevens School which featured colorful ornaments made by the students. Northeast Kingdom Youth Services received $100 on their behalf.

Best Lights went to Tim Scott Real Estate whose tree featured holiday messages from the students of Peacham Elementary School.   His charity of choice was the Peacham School Winter Sports Program.

Best Decorations went to Café Lotti whose tree included ornaments featuring local Artist Dorian McGowan's sketches of area residents. Northeast Kingdom Human Services received $100 on their behalf.
