GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING:
7pm Thursday, January 18th in the Library

Rockwell PTA is currently 400 members strong yet less than 10% attend the quarterly meetings.  While we appreciate your trust and support in running the business of PTA, we invite you to attend the General Membership Meetings to be part of the process, advocacy and parent education presentations.

This meeting will include two different parent education topics based on how parents can share power in partnership with teachers and students:
  • New Writing Curriculum - Presented by Gena Thome, 2nd grade teacher/Member of LWSD Curriculum Development Team, will share information on how parents can support their child's writing at home. She will also provide insight on the workshop model of teaching writing.
  • An Overview of Emotion Management: Helping your child handle those big, strong feelings. Presented by our school counselor, Mrs. Bauer. The presentation will provide tips on how to help your child recognize when they are having strong emotions and how to use a four-step process to help kids calm down.  As an added feature, Mrs. Bauer will include ways for parents to model emotion management at home.
In addition to parent education:
  • Principal Clark will provide a school update
  • Teacher representatives will share highlights of grade level accomplishment
  • The Treasurer has budget announcements
  • Our Legislative Advocate has a motion to put forward regarding the upcoming Bond/Levy in February
  • and so much more!
PTA meetings are not a social hour, there is a lot of business to attend to and we hope you can attend, too! Your voice and your votes matter.

WHAT IS PAW PATROL?

PAW PATROL is intended to engage families and partner with the school to welcome, support and encourage all students upon arrival every morning from 8:15-8:30 am.

Adults (parents, grandparents, neighbors, community members) will be wearing saftey vest and walking the perimeter of the school to:
  • Boost social behavior by greeting kids with a welcoming "hello"
  • Encourage students to be safe, respectable, and kind
  • enhance safety by reinforcing school rules
  • Ensure students are lined up for class when the bell rings
The first week of Paw Patrol was a BIG success! Our Paw Parent, Romina, was delighted to have younger students wave say "hi" and engage in small talk. The older students were aware of her presence and even a staff member thanked Romina for keeping an eye on everyone.

Do you want to be involved? Care to be a friendly face to greet our students? Join Paw Patrol!

LWSD Volunteer Application must be approved.
Paw Patrol Training takes 5 minutes. Once you sign up, Stacy will contact you.

You can sign up for a month, week, or just ONE day a week! Sign up HERE
