I hope you have seen the recent emails regarding the launch of the university's strategic planning process, The Wright Path to 2025: Pride, Transformation, Potential. Mike Wiehe, Applied Policy Research Institute (APRI), has been named one of the leaders of the strategic planning steering committee and Carol Loranger, English, will also serve on this committee. I know they will represent our college well. There will be a series of open forums to allow the many different stakeholders involved in this process to ask questions and share their thoughts. The first forum was held in early February at the Lake Campus and another forum was held this past Monday. The next sessions coming up are set for February 19 and 23. More details can be found here
. I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities to help shape the future of Wright State University and to make sure that CoLA has a central role to play.
It seems that nearly every week I see one of our faculty serving as an expert on local media channels. Most recently, Laura Luehrmann, School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), appeared on WRGT to talk about North Korea's impact on the Olympic Games. Lee Hannah, SPIA, also spoke on WRGT about the government's recent budget agreement. Jennie Buckwalter, CoLA Dean's Office, took three amazing students in our fine and performing arts programs to participate in a Miami Valley Voices radio interview to promote ARTSGALA, our arts programs at Wright State, and the value of a liberal arts education. It is wonderful to see CoLA faculty out in the community engaged in important conversations, representing Wright State and the college so well. |
