Dear Parents,

I hope you had a great week. Two weeks ago the faculty attended a workshop/inservice day at St. Petersburg Catholic High School. The Diocese brought in Tammy Pawloski and she spoke to us about children and their brains. It was so interesting and we got a lot of "take aways" from her talk. Your children may have come home and told you that their teacher made them "pose like a superhero" at some point during the day. Research has shown that posing in a power position for 2 minutes can actually make you feel stronger and more powerful. People do it before important meetings, speeches and tests.

Another topic she brought up was the importance of sleep. I know that our days are so full that many of us aren't getting the recommended amount of sleep each night. This is also true for our children. I am attaching a chart that shows the recommended amount of sleep time by age. The chart then shows bedtimes and wake up times that would be needed in order to achieve the optimal amount of sleep. Check it out here! I will also post it at the bottom of the update. I hope you will look it over and try to help your child get more sleep!

**Congratulations to Brooke Jordan who took 3rd place in the poster contest at Focus 11 this past Tuesday. Focus 11 is an event sponsored each year by the Diocese. Students learn about the various vocations that are available to them within the church, and how to listen to God as they discern what they want to do in their life.

**If you are in need of tuition assistance, it is important that you apply through Facts before March 31st. Only families who have applied through FACTS will be considered for assistance. Click here to be directed to the website.
