ORMHOF TRANSFERS 40 HOURS OF RACE FOOTAGE
Clubhouse Video Collection features early Baja races and more
Old race videos with tantalizing names like, "Ford Trucks 1990" and "Ivan Stewart 91 Baja 500" are among hundreds of hours of video donated to ORMHOF by Steve Weiss of Clubhouse Video.  Our initial budget was enough to convert 40 hours of video to digital files, which now take up approximately 1 terabyte of space on a 4 terabyte external hard drive. ORMHOF board member Rory Ward will be going through the digital files and posting clips to our YouTube Channel. (Subscribe here.)  If you'd like to help with this project, use the Donate tab at the bottom of this newsletter.
ORMHOF ON THE ROAD: KING OF THE HAMMERS
L-R: Co driver Jason Berger and driver Jason Sherer were all smiles the day before the big race.  Sherer became a two-time king the next day, as the team ripped through the course to a first place finish in just over seven hours.   Barbara Rainey photo.
ORMHOF made the trek to Johnson Valley, California, to take part in the 2018 King of the Hammers. Affectionately known as "Burning Man for Gear Heads," KOH is the wildly popular flagship event of the Ultra4 Racing Series, founded by ORMHOF board member Dave Cole.  A city of 50,000 plus RVs of all shapes and sizes springs up in the California desert for one week each year, with events for motorcycles, UTVs and 4wd off road vehicles testing their skill on the surrounding deserts and rock trails.
ORMHOF Rising Star Erik Miller finished in second place. Barbara Rainey and ORMHOF photos.
Another ORMHOF Rising Star, Wayland Campbell, finished in third place. Wayland's dad, ORMHOF inductee Shannon Campbell, also finished in the Top 10. ORMHOF and Barbara Rainey photos.
The Jumbotron in Hammertown continually updated the Top 10 finishers.  In the end, only 29 vehicles made the checkered flag of the 102 that started the race. King of the Hammers is considered by many to be the toughest one-day off road race in the world. Barbara Rainey photo
Thanks to Darren and Darlene Henke of DSquared Racing for running Hall of Fame decals on the 4441!  Barbara Rainey photos

PARTING SHOT: HOLY TOLEDO
Holy Toledo! It's ORMHOF inductee Brian Chuchua's Jeepster Commando inspired drag car, modeled after Chuchua's real Jeepster Commando, campaigned by Orin Nordin and Tim Nelson in the 1974 Baja 500.
