Partners for Conservation to host Collaborative Conservation Training in the West in 2018

Partners for Conservation will be hosting several basic collaboration and partnership training sessions in the West during 2018. PFC will be working with partners to identify a handful of landscapes and individuals working within those landscapes to bring together with partners to explore approaches, opportunities and challenges to initiating a conversation, effective communication, establishing a relationship, building trust and discovering a shared vision. Partners for Conservation has, since its founding, worked to find ways to transfer what we have learned about building and sustaining productive landscape-scale conservation partnerships. Our goal in this effort is to use these training sessions to both transfer lessons learned and learn from participants what type of ongoing support would be the most useful for those hoping to increase their ability to build effective public-private partnerships. Sand County Foundation Seeking Senior Program Director - Agricultural Conservation

Sand County Foundation, a national private land conservation organization, owes a debt of gratitude to Nancy DeLong as she steps back from her staff position as Senior Director of Agricultural Conservation Programs at the end of this year. DeLong, who previously served on Sand County Foundation’s Board of Directors, accepted an interim senior staff position to assist in the Foundation’s retooling of its Ag Conservation programs. She previously spent 25 years with DuPont Pioneer, the last four of which she served as Global Director of Sustainable Agricultural Systems. 
 
“Nancy stepped up to help Sand County enhance its strategy to make farmers and ranchers a central vehicle for improving water quality, soil health and wildlife habitat,” said Foundation President & CEO, Kevin McAleese. “Her leadership made this year-long programmatic transition efficient and orderly.”

A NOTE FROM THE CHAIR

Happy Holidays from Partners for Conservation!
 
This time of year is one for both celebration, reflection and anticipation for individuals, families and organizations. Looking back over the last twelve months PFC certainly has a lot of all three to do! We had our tenth annual Private Lands Partners Day in a forested landscape that was not even on our radar when we started. We continued to make connections to great landowners and partners that are putting public-private partnership principles to work in an increasing number of landscapes. Landscapes that are increasing diverse in terms of the country and the specific challenges that they are addressing. We’ve also reflected on what are the most important things that Partners for Conservation can do to help move this way of working along and will be acting on that in 2018 and beyond. 

You might not realize it with the news we hear every day, but all across the country individuals from across the spectrum of public and private landscape interests continue to get things done to benefit the communities where they live and the places that they care about. While we celebrate what we’ve been able to do over the last 12 months, we are looking forward to what we hope to get started in 2018. And we hope you are along for the ride!
