Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Sunday Church
Core Values: Purity
Purity. It's a value about which we tend to not dedicate much thought. That all changes when the purity of something is threatened or altered, potentially causing harm and/or loss.
I recall a visit with a manager from Jennie-O out in the church parking lot, three years ago this spring. It was a bright sunny morning and a flock of geese were making their way north.
"How are things at the plant," I asked? Pointing up to the geese, he shook he head and sadly replied, "Not so good, thanks to those feathered friends."
Before the Avian Flu crises passed that year, spread by migrating waterfowl, millions of birds would be lost. Sacrificed, to keep our food chain safe.
This weekend we explore the second Core Value: Purity. In his letter to the church in Rome, Paul wrote these words:

"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12.2

Sounds good, right? But as Jesus followers, this much we know: as much as we may know and may be able to pull off God's, "good and pleasing and perfect," will some of the time, we all have days when we live on the other end of the spectrum. This being the case, when does the 'transforming' that Paul speaks of begin to happen? And how do we receive the ability to live with one another in ways that are good and pleasing to God? Hope to see you this weekend for installment #2 of Core Values: "Purity."

Living for Jesus!

-Ned

Families Needed for Announcements
Have you seen of the families featured below in our weekly announcements? Has your family been featured? If not, please send a recent family photo and your answers for the questions to Lindsey Wood. You can Facebook message or email her at [email protected] (just be sure to put Family Info For Church in the subject). We want to have every family featured!
Also, if you are not featured on our wall at our 411 building- please print out a picture or email that to Lindsey Wood and we will get you up there!
Team Meeting: 7-8pm, Wednesday, February 28th
Church, we're calling a meeting of the Ruby's leaders to discuss how we can set up a system of leadership and rotation of specific roles on a given distribution Saturday to better: 1) ensure key areas are covered, and 2) have a, 'deep bench' for when key folks are absent. If you'd like to join in the conversation, please join us right after Lenten worship on Wednesday, February 28. Thanks!
Wednesday Worship
There are tons of important ways we can prepare our hearts for Easter. At Living Water, one of the most intentional is our weekly community meal & worship. Every Wednesday we're served up a simple supper of soup & sandwiches, followed by Holden Evening Prayer in the Worship Center. This year we have a very special treat: weekly installments from a ficticious family as they struggle with the very real-life issues raised by Jesus and his ministry. Here's how it shakes out:
Soup & Sandwiches: 5:30-6:30pm
Worship: 6:30-7pm
Note from Cameroon Missionaries
The photo I'm attaching is one taken about 10 days ago of a few of the PAACS wives, some children, and two staff wives as we walked to greet and take food to our newly arrived Resident and his family from South Sudan. The rest of us were standing waiting for this group as they walked very slowly, laughing and talking. I'm so thankful for this group of women. The seven pictured here are from six different countries.    -Jim and Carolyn Brown
Save Your UPC Codes
Luther Bible Camp is collecting "Our Family" brand UPC codes off grocery items.  Throughout 2018 any UPC codes you collect (we do not need the entire label, just the physical UPC code) will be sent to Luther Park and your donations will be turned into money for programs they do on Lake Chetek.  A collection container will be in the back of church.  Thank you for supporting this important resource for both children and adults.
Artist Donations Needed
Each summer our churches' bible camp ministry hosts a really great family fundraiser. In preparation for, Heart for the Park, on August 5 the camp is seeking the talents of local artists. Needed are: jewelry, carvings, wood pieces, quilts, etc. Please contact the park with your donation: [email protected]
Attention Handymen
Are you handy? Do you have a talent or ability that you would like to share? Are you looking for opportunities to serve others in our community with those talents relating to small projects? If you think that's too many questions - then this is right in your wheelhouse. We are looking for men of all ages and all skill sets who like to get their hands dirty. Don't know how to do anything special- we need backs and bodies too. If you have an interest in serving alongside other men out in our community on (blitz) service projects, then we have something in common and an opportunity for you to get involved! Join us on the ground floor of something new- (so new, there's not even a name for it!)
If you know of someone who could use help, or handy work, but has little for resources or ability, we'd like to meet them and take a look!
Please contact Ike Stouffer at 1-920-716-9127 [email protected]
or Bryan Wood at 715-699-2937 [email protected]

Meet the Living Water Family of the Week
Names: Greg Swant  (Paige, Trinity, Greyson) Jade Olson (Amara, Ireland)
Something interesting about our household:
We're a mixed family full of love and laughter. There is never a dull moment. We stay very busy with college tours, sporting events, school events, and family time.
How we became connected to Living Water:
Jade and her girls have been members for about 7yrs. Greg has had an interest in attending Living Water for a while now. When we started dating (now engaged) we started going together.
What we like about Living Water:
We enjoy the friendliness of the people who attend, the Sunday school program, and of course Pastor Ned.
