Living with Purpose
Excerpted from an article on Smart Aging, which was in the Aging in Atlanta section of the
Atlanta Journal Constitution. The emphasis is on how to cope with the changes aging can bring. It should be a positive experience.
For the next several months we will give pointers on "Living with Purpose".
Experts advise that people seeking a sense of purpose consider spending more time on activities they enjoy or using work skills in a new way.
Particularly after retirement, it can be vital not to let aimlessness take over. Cultivate new goals and ways to be useful.
"I think people can get a sense of purpose from very simple things; from taking care of pet, working in a garden or being kind to a neighbor".
Patricia Boyle, Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
As a reminder:
TTN is a dynamic national community of professional women, 50 and forward, whose changing life situations lead them to seek new connections, opportunities and resources.
Through TTN, women connect with one another to discover new perspectives and opportunities so they can impact themselves and their community.
