Going For the Gold
You may have heard that the Winter Olympics are being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, but did you know that we have our own Winter Olympics happening right here at St. John's Parish Day School? Mrs. Cramer has come up with fun and inventive ways to duplicate everyone's favorite winter sports in our school spaces all throughout the week. We've got figure skating, bobsledding, cross-country skiing, biathlon, and even the new fan favorite: curling! Our students first watch a short video that gives an overview of the sport, then learn about the tools and equipment through hands-on instruction. Students get the opportunity to compete in up to three different events during their Physical Education class time. Themed activities like these help our students make connections with what is going on in the world around them, which helps shape them as informed young people. They also have the chance to use up-cycled materials and their imaginations to have fun at the same time.
