National Forum on Landscape Conservation - National Conservation Training Center

Partners for Conservation board members and staff joined almost 200 others at the National Forum on Landscape Conservation held at the National Conservation Training Center near Shepherdstown, West Virginia in early November. Agency and nongovernmental organization staff joined academics and even a handful of landowners to discuss the current status of collaborative landscape conservation as well as identify challenges and opportunities. With a mix of presentations, story telling and working sessions the forum aspired to advance the practice of collaborative conservation. It was great to see more landowners at the gathering than at the initial meeting held several years ago and we are hopeful that this is a trend that will continue in to future. The forum was organized by the Network for Landscape Conservation . Thank you to the network and to all of the sponsors and supporters!
Partners for Conservation and Other Organizations "Neighbor up" during visit to Washington DC


Partners for Conservation staff and board joined staff and board from the Intermountain West Joint Venture , Family Farm Alliance and the Blackfoot Challenge during a visit to Washington DC. The groups met with leadership of agencies and folks on Capitol Hill to share stories about the power of collaboration and public-private partnerships to address our natural resource and rural community sustainability challenges. It is always great to be able to share stories of places where public-private partnerships are continuing to get things done, especially in the absence of that theme in much of our national discourse.

A NOTE FROM THE CHAIR

Holiday Greetings from Montana!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for many things this year not the least of which is to be back home after spending a couple of weeks this month back east. I was able to attend a national conference on collaborative conservation and visit our Nation’s capital. For all of the chaos and uncertainty that seems to dominate our daily headlines, it was enlightening to see that there are landscapes and communities that continue to get things done. That being said there is still a lot of work to do and Partners for Conservation is grateful for the opportunity to be involved.
