STEP had 26 unique organizations join us at the February Coalition meeting!  Check out the PowerPoint, meeting minutes and some highlights:
  • Thank you to the Arizona Department of Education for hosting.
  • 114 partners completed our Fall resource assessment, sharing their training needs and input on resources for youth-serving organizations.  Check out some of the results!
  • Members learned more about one another (using these fun thumbballs) and shared many valuable events, opportunities and resources.
Please join us for the next STEP Coalition meeting to network, hear the results of the PARTNER survey, and join one of the following work groups: Professional Development, The Hub, and Collaboration and/or Grants.

  HUB UPDATE 
 
Last month, we released a Request for Proposals in search of a youth-serving, community based organization to partner with Collective STEP for Youth to develop an online clearinghouse of resources for professionals, informally called "the Hub."

After reviewing the proposals, we're thrilled to announce that we're partnering with the Arizona Family Health Partnership to develop the Hub. We've had our initial meeting and are excited about the energy and commitment to this key project. Stay tuned for a pilot test of the website once it is developed!

STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Adonis Deniz Jr. 
Adonis serves as a Collective STEP for Youth Steering Committee Member. He grew up in Florida and moved to Arizona when he was fourteen. He serves on the committee to improve community health for adolescents by helping to build a strong, connected network of youth-serving professionals in Maricopa County. Adonis brings data analysis, developing infrastructures and strategic planning experience to the coalition. He hopes that this role will help to expand his skill-set and provide an opportunity to learn  how to fill in gaps in the system.
  
Gina Read
Gina serves as a Collective STEP for Youth Steering Committee Member. She is a native Arizonan and serves on the committee because she feels positive impact at an early age far outweighs trying to help at a later age. She understands all ages matter, but this age (adolescence) is critical. Gina brings good editing skills and a variety of resources to the coalition. She loves to learn and enjoys autumn.

Tempe Coalition will host a FREE workshop,Teens and Drug Use, on Tuesday, February 20 at Tempe Community Council. Josh Azevedo will present on signs and symptoms of teen drug use, how parents can talk to teens, and provide information on available treatment resources. Learn more here.  
 
Family Bridges will host the Helping Boys THRIVE Summit on February 24 from 8am-3:30pm at First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix. Register here.     
 
Kaity's Way in collaboration with Dance Fusion will be hosting a Charity Dance Marathon on February 24 from noon-6pm. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a variety of dance classes by simply donating a minimum of $5 for every 30 minute class during the 6 hour marathon.
