The Illinois statewide Math and Science federal grant is looking for a Science Professional Development provider to deliver 72-80 hours of PD to K-12 teachers in Summer 2016 and 2017. We are interested in a deliverable that can offer teachers a deeper understanding of the NGSS and how 3 dimensional learning looks in the classroom. We are committed to a "Train the Trainer" model in which area teacher leaders would receive PD in June, to be redelivered in their respected areas in July. With one of the largest number of attendees in recent years, ESA folks from around the country stormed Capitol Hill offices to share their thoughts on education legislation. ESEA was one of the major topics since both the Senate and the House have passed their respective versions of reauthorization. AESA has supported these but prefers the Senate version. Both bills are improvements over existing legislation. The problem is that no conferees have been selected to match these bills up and finalize a version to send to the President's desk. A terrific line up of speakers were present to help everyone understand the issues while bringing their opinions about where things were headed.
