Crossroads Student Ministry
Weekly Newsletter

February 2018

Words cannot express what an extraordinary honor it was to deliver the message and help facilitate last Sunday's Confirmation ceremony! Every single one of this year's confirmands are such unique, brilliant, compassionate, and radiant lights in this world. I am grateful that they have each said YES! to being an ongoing part of the Crossroads family and to living their lives guided by the ways of Jesus.

If you weren't able to join us last week, the service is available to stream  here

Also, we've ordered a limited number of the "Remember Who You Are" cuff bracelets that I mentioned in the message, which was one of the gifts for this year's confirmands. It looks just like Pastor Dave's bracelet, which is shown below.

If you'd like to buy one for yourself or give one as a gift, the bracelets will be available for purchase this coming Sunday for $15. They're a wonderful way to be reminded throughout your day that you are God's beloved.

Have a beautiful week continuing to see Love and be Love wherever you are!

With Joy,
Marilyn

Get Ready to REACH! New Heights in the New Year!!

REACH! is a collaborative adventure for both Middle and High School students. Together, we'll reach for a greater connection with God while also reaching new places of spiritual strength, creativity, and joy within us through games, hikes, painting, music, service projects, poetry creation, lively discussion, and much more!

REACH! takes place every Sunday from 5-6:15PM in the Crossroads Basement.
You can find out more about REACH! here.

~~~
Due to the holiday weekend, we won't be having REACH! this coming Sunday (2/18).
Also, be sure to mark your calendars!
As a special experience for our Students and their Families, we'll be gathering at the Winter Seasonal Soul Renewal
Award-winning Counselor Neil McNerney Presents
"Parenting with Purpose"
The biggest missing piece with parenting these days is taking a step back in figuring out what exactly our kids are doing that is pushing our buttons. When we understand why we are so anxious around our kids, we can quickly do things to help stay calm during any situation.
During this engaging seminar presentation, Licensed Professional Counselor and Family Therapist Neil McNerney will help you improve your parenting skills by focusing on:
- Why we get our buttons pushed
- Reducing the "Incredible Hulk Effect"
- How to let consequences do the screaming
- Creating the best relationship possible with your child
This free event is open to parents with children of all ages (from  newborns  to college-bound and beyond!). Childcare is available at no charge. Please register here if you require childcare.
Visit the Crossroads website for more details or  email Marilyn with any questions.
Regular Gatherings
Intersect
Intersect takes Sunday School to the "next level"!
9AM is Middle School Student Focused
11AM is created with High School Students in Mind
However, Students of either age-group are invited to attend the session of their choice.
We have a very special guest joining us for Intersect this week!
Alan Banks of the National Coalition for the Homeless will be sharing some of his story in the Sanctuary during the main service and will then be joining our Students in Intersect for a more extensive conversation.
Alan is inspirational, engaging, and the epitome of a true hero in his work to advocate for those who are experiencing homelessness in our local communities.
This is an amazing opportunity that you won't want to miss!
