A message regarding the state budget

Dear Friends of MMI,
 
Many of you requested an update regarding the proposed state budget cuts to the University and how will they affect MMI/UNMC. Simply put, my view is that these cuts, if they materialize, would likely result in reduction of our services, increased waiting times, and cutbacks to our education and research activities. Yet, I also understand that these are turbulent financial times for our state, and that we will all have to share the burden. Still, my deep personal belief is that the new round of proposed budget cuts go too far, and are counterproductive: no enterprise has ever become great by downsizing.
 
However, I understand that some of you might have different views, and we must be part of the same conversation. We live in a democracy, and your voice should be heard! I strongly encourage you to share your support or opposition to the budget proposal with your state senator as soon as possible. If you choose to do so, I hope that you find the following information useful:
