Our Perspective
Spotlight: Augusta Lovin'

While we've all got chocolate and flowers on the mind, we thought we'd present the perfect Valentine's Day package for your economic development sweet tooth. From the chocolate and flowers to the dinner, entertainment and lodging, read on for some sweet facts.

Hershey - Hershey has your chocolate needs covered, and the Hershey plant located in Stuarts Draft is the company's most U.S. diversified plant making favorites from Kisses to Reese's Cups.

BlooMaker - Did you know that BlooMaker has a new product - the Perfected Rose - which will decorate your home with no water needed for months? BlooMaker has a special Valentine's message for all here.

White's Wayside - There's nothing we LOVE more than White's Wayside bread - made from a bread recipe dating back to 1929 when White's originally opened. We're going to recommend you try the cheeseburger served on the famous bread.

Grand Caverns - For anyone that finds history romantic, you might be interested to know that Grand Caverns is the U.S.'s oldest continually-operating show cave. Tours in the dark in what were once candle-lit only corridors are a unique Augusta County-experience.

The Inn at MeadowCroft - Swoope, VA is home to a new lodging option(!). Three 200-year-old log structures have been restored to create The Inn, which features the original two-story log structure built on the farm (circa 1820) and two additional cabins (circa 1795), which were moved and reconstructed.  The Inn includes a tea room and a restaurant available by reservation.

All of this chocolate talk might inspire a visit to the Virginia Food and Beverage Expo. If you're a food producer looking to market your products, the Richmond Expo is in March. Details are here.

Happy Valentine's to all! We have a lot of love for this community.
