When I moved to Louisville to work for Presbyterian World Mission, I listened to the radio as I drove to and from work. The traffic reports were meaningless because I didn't know the street names or highway numbers. Little by little, however, my  familiarity with the city grew, and I used those traffic reports to navigate a quicker route.
The same has happened with my move to Milwaukee. As I drive to the Presbytery Office, I'm starting to recognize bottlenecks that will adversely affect my drive. Still, much is unfamiliar. For instance, I don't know what route takes me from "the Q to the Zoo," but I know it's usually at least 30 minutes in the morning. The learning process is...( READ MORE).

UPDATED TAX RESOURCES NOW AVAILABLE
The  Tax Guide for Ministers for 2017 Returns  and  Federal Reporting Requirements for Churches: What You Need To Know for 2018  are now available through Benefits Connect (see Quick Links on your home page when you log on). The Tax Guide will also be mailed to active and retired ministers of the Word and Sacrament this month.
Included with the  Tax Guide  is the  housing allowance letter , which is available on pensions.org.
Tax Tips for Members & Employers - Tax Year 2017  is now available in the Tax Resource Center at Board University on pensions.org. This annual resource helps plan members and employers (including church treasurers and administrators) understand tax law changes that affect 2017 income tax reporting and filing. The tutorial contains links to other helpful resources, including the Clergy Housing Allowance tutorial.

INAUGURATION OF DR. CINDY G. GNADINGER AT CARROLL UNIVERSITY
Carroll University will celebrate the Inauguration Ceremony of Dr. Cindy G. Gnadinger as its fifteenth  president on Friday, March 16, 2018. The community is invited to join in the celebration which will take place at Carroll University in the Shattuck Music Center Auditorium at 10 a.m. with the processional beginning at 10:30 a.m. Those that are unable to attend in person will also be able to livestream the event by visiting www.carrollu.edu .
OBSERVING ASH WEDNESDAY IN THE PRESBYTERY

Keith Jones, pastor of Ottawa Presbyterian, offers the following observation: When this day was made the first day of Lent, the name first given to it in the Roman service books was 'Caput Jejunii' - "the Head of the Fast'. Later it was called 'Dies Cinerum' - the "Day of Ashes' - and so assumed its present name.
From about the seventh century those who had committed serious sins and were prepared to submit to public penance presented themselves at the beginning of Lent to the Bishop in his church, clothed in sackcloth and with bare feet, where they joined with him and the rest of the clergy in repeating the seven penitential psalms. Forest Park Presbyterian Church is hosting an  upcoming fundraiser that will benefit Redeem and Restore. PRESBYTERY SEEKS ASSOCIATE FOR MINISTRY VITALITY 
The Presbytery of Milwaukee announces the opening of a new staff position: the Associate for Ministry Vitality. This role shares many of the same functions as our Congregational Care Coordinator position (which will be subsumed within this new position), with an increased emphasis on congregational vitality. The deadline to apply is short.  All applications must be received by March 5 , with a preferred position start date of April 30, 2018.
