Are you a member of an association attending Congress?  Check if your association is attending   and find all the information you need. Even if you are not an association member, Congress is a wonderful multidisciplinary learning environment for curious minds. Congress travel awards
To help graduate students attend Congress 2018, the University of Regina is providing 600 student awards totaling $270,000. The funding includes a subsidy for on-campus accommodations, a meal card for on-campus meals, and a credit to the campus bookstore - all to help make it easier for students to experience Canada's largest gathering of scholars. Applications now open, closing February 28.

Big Thinking on the Hill - March 20
The Federation has partnered with the Partnership Group for Science and Engineering (PAGSE) to present a panel discussion on  Arctic warming: Land and communities on the cusp of rapid change . Researchers Susan Kutz, Senior Fellow, Associate Professor, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary and Jackie Dawson, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, University of Ottawa will present in the parliamentary restaurant on March 20. Open Scholarship Policy Observatory
Earlier this month a new website launched to help facilitate an understanding of open social scholarship. The Open Scholarship Policy Observatory, produced by the Implementing New Knowledge Environments (INKE) initiative, is a website that will track research and policy developments related to open social scholarship in Canada and around the world. 
Canada Prizes jury announcement
The Federation is pleased to announce the jury members for the 2018 Canada Prizes. The finalists will be announced this spring, and the winners will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony at Congress 2018 at the University of Regina. Stay tuned for more details.

SFU supports Indigenous ed
BMO Financial Group has made a commitment of $500,000 to support Indigenous business education at Simon Fraser University's Beedie School of Business. The gift will fund new research and go toward creation of an annual $10K scholarship for a student in the Executive MBA in Indigenous Business and Leadership. 
McMaster YWCA award nominees
McMaster University community members were among the 33 nominated for YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Students, staff, faculty and alumnae were nominated in areas ranging from young women, science and technology, business, community, arts, culture and design. More information here

Knowledge mobilization competition
The Networks of Centres of Excellence has launched a competition for its Knowledge Mobilization Initiative . The program supports collaborations between knowledge producers and knowledge users from various disciplines, sectors and institutions for the social, economic, technological, and/or wellness benefit of Canada and the Canadian population. The deadline to submit a letter of intent is April 16
Outcomes for graduates
New research on employment outcomes of university graduates is available. The University of Toronto released results from their 10,000 PhDs Project, which tracks the career paths of PhD grads, including those in HSS. And the American Academy of Arts & Sciences has released The State of the Humanities 2018, exploring workforce outcomes of humanities grads.
Imagine a Canada
Imagine a Canada , a national arts and leadership program of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) is inviting young people, kindergarten to post-secondary, to share their thoughts on what the future of Canada will look like through the lens of reconciliation. Submission deadline is March 1. More information available here .
