Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

I think the snow has settled for a while and the bright sunshine lifts the spirits. We wish our 8th grade Future City Team the best of luck as they compete in the National Future City competition next week. Mrs. Duckert has gone above and beyond in making these arrangements for the team and their parents.

Mrs. Osberg will be returning to second grade on February 19. Mrs. Browne will continue to team teach with her for a period of time. We are so grateful to Mrs. Browne for her time and expertise in taking over second grade. Mrs. Osberg is thrilled to be coming back as we are for her to return. Prayers of thanksgiving all around.

Next Tuesday is Chat with Pat at 5:30 pm in the Teacher's Lounge down from the School Office. Common meeting night begins at 6:30 pm in the Community Room.

Please continue to register for next year's school year. Our 3K-3 day program has reached capacity but we still have openings in our 2-day 3K and 5-day 3K program. Time is particularly of the essence if you are interested in our other 3K programs as well as our 4K programs.

Kudos to the sixth grade class planning and working the Fun Fair last Friday. It was a great success and the students had a wonderful time. Mr. Nagel was so kind in making most of the games so now, we will have them for future Fun Fair events. Our parents are the best!

Have a great weekend,

Mrs. Wadzinski
St. Alphonsus School Family Referral Program

Parents, you are our best form of advertising and for that we say THANK YOU!
Each year, when new families tour and enroll, we ask them how they heard about
St. Alphonsus. The majority of the families tell us that they heard about the school from a current family. We want to encourage you to and thank you for continuing to promote St. Alphonsus to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers by offering you a tuition discount if a family that you refer then enrolls for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please view the flyer for all of the details!

Congrats to the 8th grade boys basketball team! They were invited to participate in the Padre Serra Basketball Tournament on March 1st. Please come out and support them! To help cheer them on, we have a "spirit t-shirt" available to purchase. Please click the following link to see the shirt and to purchase it. Tournament will be held Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at 5:30pm at Mount Mary University, 2900 North Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee, WI 53222. We would like all families to come out in support of our 8th grade boys if you are able!

COUSINS SUBS FUNDRAISER

The last Cousins lunch to support our eight grade graduating class is on March 2, 2018. Please look for the order forms in today’s folder or feel free to download the attached form. Since our last lunch is during Lent, we would like to offer another “meatless” option besides the Cousins cheese/vegetable and tuna sub. Feel free to write in “uncrustable” if your child would like a grape uncrustable sandwich.

Order forms are due next week Friday and each meal will be $5.00. Any questions please contact Lisa Graber (414) 807-2767 or lisapetegraber@sbcglobal.net

Thank you for your ongoing support!

W hole Child Learning Considerations shared by Ann Anzalone

As Mrs. Wadzinski mentioned in last week’s Newsletter, Ms. Ann Anzelone was here last week and she gave us some great ideas for parents to consider as well as amazing information for us. Please see the attached document with some ideas that you can use at home.

Volunteer Opportunity

March is Youth Art Month and the Greendale Library wants to showcase children’s art from
the community during this month. This year we will be part of a larger exhibit with other schools in Greendale. This is an exciting opportunity for building relationships with
other schools in our community.

The exhibit will be going up on Wednesday, February 28th after school. We are in need of volunteers to help get the work to the library and display the work. This is a great opportunity for child/parent time and service. Please email Mrs. Pledl at
pledl@st-alphonsus.org if you are interested in helping hang the exhibit or if you have any questions.
From the Desk of Mrs. Pledl

ATHLETICS NEWS
Hello St. Alphonsus families:

This is a reminder that now is a good time to sign up for track which will be starting in March/April! Track is a lot of fun and exposes children to track and field events (high jump, softball throw, long jump, etc.) as well as running. It is a great way to warm them up for soccer and baseball!

There is not too much commitment - practice will be twice per week with three or four track meets.

In addition to encouraging athletes to sign up, we would love to get a few more parents involved to help with coaching the kids. If you love running or track events please consider volunteering your time. For questions please email SAAA-AD@wi.rr.com .

Thank you,

St. Alphonsus Athletics

We have a Box Top EMERGENCY!

Box Tops submission time is coming and we are significantly down in the amount of box tops turned into the school. Normally, the spring submission is about 12,000 box tops. Right now we’ve only collected 4,071. In terms of money for the school, that’s about an $800 deficit!

How can you help:
·   Please turn in non-expired box tops and bonus box tops by Friday, February 23, even if it’s only 5, every box top is appreciated.
·   If you don’t have time to tape them to the submission form, toss what you have in a baggie or envelope and put it in backpack mail.
o Mark the baggie or envelope with your child’s name and classroom number.
o If you have more than one child you can use one baggie or envelope, write down each child’s name and classrooms. The total amount you turn in will be divided equally among your children.
·   Did you know, you can turn in box tops without your child’s name and room number? If that is what is stopping you from participating don’t worry, we don’t need them labeled.

Current Classroom Contest Rankings for 2nd Trimester:
·          Mrs. Strop 1st place
·          Mrs. Frank 2nd place
·          Mrs. Ramion 3rd place
