Assessment of Composting Latrines in Panama: Use, perception & pathogen reduction

SEEL 303 (Lab building of SEEC)
Join James Mihelcic (University of South Florida) as he presents the results of a long-term study of urine diverting composting toilets in Western Panama. The talk will assess the relationship between pathogen destruction and temperature, pH, desiccation and user operation. Mihelcic will also discuss the use of recently constructed composting latrines and how demographics play a role in user perception of resource recovery. Learn More |

Join Daniel Wilson (Lawrence Berkeley National Lab) as he presents four case studies of how sensors and big data analytics can be used to derive insights, and drive higher impacts and economic sustainability from technological interventions in the developing world. Ian Walker is a Lead Economist in the Jobs Group at the World Bank. His recent publications focu on social protection systems and on the supply and demand for skills. The Water Youth Network is taking an active part in the 8th World Water Forum by creating space for high skilled youth (under 35) to take part in the global decision making process achieving the SDGs related to water. WYN will have a booth where young people can present their research and practical contributions to the SDGs.

New US DFI expected to get strong White House support
Bipartisan lawmakers are expected to introduce a bill calling for the creation of a new development finance institution as soon as next week. Sources with knowledge of the latest proposal version describe "a very, very full-throated effort to provide this country with the most timely and effective way to engage in development finance that people can image."
